    तामागतां तत्र न कश्चनाद्रियद्विमानितां यज्ञकृतो भयाज्जनः । ऋते स्वसॄर्वै जननीं च सादराः प्रेमाश्रुकण्ठ्यः परिषस्वजुर्मुदा ॥ ४-४-७ ॥tAmAgatAM tatra na kazcanAdriyadvimAnitAM yajJakRto bhayAjjanaH । Rte svasRRrvai jananIM ca sAdarAH premAzrukaNThyaH pariSasvajurmudA ॥ 4-4-7 ॥When Satī, with her followers, reached the arena, because all the people assembled were afraid of Dakṣa, none of them received her well. No one welcomed her but her mother and sisters, who, with tears in their eyes and with glad faces, welcomed her and talked with her very pleasingly. ॥ 4-4-7 ॥

    आब्रह्मघोषोर्जितयज्ञवैशसं विप्रर्षिजुष्टं विबुधैश्च सर्वशः । मृद्दार्वयःकाञ्चनदर्भचर्मभिर्निसृष्टभाण्डं यजनं समाविशत् ॥ ४-४-६ ॥AbrahmaghoSorjitayajJavaizasaM viprarSijuSTaM vibudhaizca sarvazaH । mRddArvayaHkAJcanadarbhacarmabhirnisRSTabhANDaM yajanaM samAvizat ॥ 4-4-6 ॥She then reached her father’s house, where the sacrifice was being performed, and entered the arena where everyone was chanting the Vedic hymns. The great sages, brāhmaṇas and demigods were all assembled there, and there were many sacrificial animals, as well as pots made of clay, stone, gold, grass and skin, which were all requisite for the sacrifice. ॥ 4-4-6 ॥

    तां सारिकाकन्दुकदर्पणाम्बुजश्वेतातपत्रव्यजनस्रगादिभिः । गीतायनैर्दुन्दुभिशङ्खवेणुभिर्वृषेन्द्रमारोप्य विटङ्किता ययुः ॥ ४-४-५ ॥tAM sArikAkandukadarpaNAmbujazvetAtapatravyajanasragAdibhiH । gItAyanairdundubhizaGkhaveNubhirvRSendramAropya viTaGkitA yayuH ॥ 4-4-5 ॥The disciples of Lord Śiva arranged for Satī to be seated on the back of a bull and gave her the bird which was her pet. They bore a lotus flower, a mirror and all such paraphernalia for her enjoyment and covered her with a great canopy. Followed by a singing party with drums, conchshells and bugles, the entire procession was as pompous as a royal parade. ॥ 4-4-5 ॥

    तामन्वगच्छन्द्रुतविक्रमां सतीमेकां त्रिनेत्रानुचराः सहस्रशः । सपार्षदयक्षा मणिमन्मदादयः पुरो वृषेन्द्रास्तरसा गतव्यथाः ॥ ४-४-४ ॥tAmanvagacchandrutavikramAM satImekAM trinetrAnucarAH sahasrazaH । sapArSadayakSA maNimanmadAdayaH puro vRSendrAstarasA gatavyathAH ॥ 4-4-4 ॥When they saw Satī leaving alone very rapidly, thousands of Lord Śiva’s disciples, headed by Maṇimān and Mada, quickly followed her with his bull Nandi in front and accompanied by the Yakṣas. ॥ 4-4-4 ॥

    ततो विनिःश्वस्य सती विहाय तं शोकेन रोषेण च दूयता हृदा । पित्रोरगात्स्त्रैणविमूढधीर्गृहान् प्रेम्णाऽऽत्मनो योऽर्धमदात्सतां प्रियः ॥ ४-४-३ ॥tato viniHzvasya satI vihAya taM zokena roSeNa ca dUyatA hRdA । pitroragAtstraiNavimUDhadhIrgRhAn premNA''tmano yo'rdhamadAtsatAM priyaH ॥ 4-4-3 ॥Thereafter Satī left her husband, Lord Śiva, who had given her half his body due to affection. Breathing very heavily because of anger and bereavement, she went to the house of her father. This less intelligent act was due to her being a weak woman. ॥ 4-4-3 ॥

    सुहृद्दिदृक्षाप्रतिघातदुर्मनाः स्नेहाद्रुदत्यश्रुकलातिविह्वला । भवं भवान्यप्रतिपूरुषं रुषा प्रधक्ष्यतीवैक्षत जातवेपथुः ॥ ४-४-२ ॥suhRddidRkSApratighAtadurmanAH snehAdrudatyazrukalAtivihvalA । bhavaM bhavAnyapratipUruSaM ruSA pradhakSyatIvaikSata jAtavepathuH ॥ 4-4-2 ॥Satī felt very sorry at being forbidden to go see her relatives at her father’s house, and due to affection for them, tears fell from her eyes. Shaking and very much afflicted, she looked at her uncommon husband, Lord Śiva, as if she were going to blast him with her vision. ॥ 4-4-2 ॥

    मैत्रेय उवाच एतावदुक्त्वा विरराम शङ्करः पत्न्यङ्गनाशं ह्युभयत्र चिन्तयन् । सुहृद्दिदृक्षुः परिशङ्किता भवान्निष्क्रामती निर्विशती द्विधाऽऽस सा ॥ ४-४-१ ॥maitreya uvAca etAvaduktvA virarAma zaGkaraH patnyaGganAzaM hyubhayatra cintayan । suhRddidRkSuH parizaGkitA bhavAnniSkrAmatI nirvizatI dvidhA''sa sA ॥ 4-4-1 ॥The sage Maitreya said: Lord Śiva was silent after speaking to Satī, seeing her between decisions. Satī was very much anxious to see her relatives at her father’s house, but at the same time she was afraid of Lord Śiva’s warning. Her mind unsettled, she moved in and out of the room as a swing moves this way and that. ॥ 4-4-1 ॥

    यदि व्रजिष्यस्यतिहाय मद्वचो भद्रं भवत्या न ततो भविष्यति । सम्भावितस्य स्वजनात्पराभवो यदा स सद्यो मरणाय कल्पते ॥ ४-३-२५ ॥yadi vrajiSyasyatihAya madvaco bhadraM bhavatyA na tato bhaviSyati । sambhAvitasya svajanAtparAbhavo yadA sa sadyo maraNAya kalpate ॥ 4-3-25 ॥If in spite of this instruction you decide to go, neglecting my words, the future will not be good for you. You are most respectable, and when you are insulted by your relative, this insult will immediately be equal to death. ॥ 4-3-25 ॥

    तत्ते निरीक्ष्यो न पितापि देहकृद्दक्षो मम द्विट् तदनुव्रताश्च ये । यो विश्वसृग्यज्ञगतं वरोरु मामनागसं दुर्वचसाकरोत्तिरः ॥ ४-३-२४ ॥tatte nirIkSyo na pitApi dehakRddakSo mama dviT tadanuvratAzca ye । yo vizvasRgyajJagataM varoru mAmanAgasaM durvacasAkarottiraH ॥ 4-3-24 ॥Therefore you should not see your father, although he is the giver of your body, because he and his followers are envious of me. Because of his envy, O most worshipful one, he has insulted me with cruel words although I am innocent. ॥ 4-3-24 ॥

    सत्त्वं विशुद्धं वसुदेवशब्दितं यदीयते तत्र पुमानपावृतः । सत्त्वे च तस्मिन् भगवान् वासुदेवो ह्यधोक्षजो मे नमसा विधीयते ॥ ४-३-२३ ॥sattvaM vizuddhaM vasudevazabditaM yadIyate tatra pumAnapAvRtaH । sattve ca tasmin bhagavAn vAsudevo hyadhokSajo me namasA vidhIyate ॥ 4-3-23 ॥I am always engaged in offering obeisances to Lord Vāsudeva in pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Kṛṣṇa consciousness is always pure consciousness, in which the Supreme Personality of Godhead, known as Vāsudeva, is revealed without any covering. ॥ 4-3-23 ॥
