Great resplendent, eminent-sage Vashishtha placed the fire on the altar, recited the mantras from the scriptures and offered oblations into the flame ( according to tradition ). [1-73-24]

agnimAdhAya taM vedyAM vidhimaMtrapuraskRtam | juhAvAgnau mahAtejA vaziSTho munipuMgava || 1-73-24
