अरुन्धन् मिथिलां सर्वे वीर्यसंदेहमागताः । आत्मानमवधूतं ते विज्ञाय नृपपुङ्गवा: ॥ १-६६-२१

- since a self-mistrust bechanced among them all, about their own valour. Those eminent kings surmised for themselves that they are humiliated. ॥ 1-66-21॥

english translation

arundhan mithilAM sarve vIryasaMdehamAgatAH । AtmAnamavadhUtaM te vijJAya nRpapuGgavA: ॥ 1-66-21

रोषेण महताविष्टाः पीडयन् मिथिलां पुरीम् । ततः संवत्सरे पूर्णे क्षयं यातानि सर्वशः ॥ १-६६-२२

- Inflamed with anger, they tormented the city of Mithila. Thus one year passed. Everywhere in the city, exhaustion of . - ॥ 1-66-22॥

english translation

roSeNa mahatAviSTAH pIDayan mithilAM purIm । tataH saMvatsare pUrNe kSayaM yAtAni sarvazaH ॥ 1-66-22

साधनानि मुनिश्रेष्ठ ततोऽहं भृशदुःखितः । ततो देवगणान् सर्वांस्तपसाहं प्रसादयम् ॥ १-६६-२३

- all the means of living were happened, oh ! eminent sage, thereby I am highly anguished. Then I propitiated the assemblages of gods by my ascesis. ॥ 1-66-23॥

english translation

sAdhanAni munizreSTha tato'haM bhRzaduHkhitaH । tato devagaNAn sarvAMstapasAhaM prasAdayam ॥ 1-66-23

ददुश्च परमप्रीताश्चतुरंगबलं सुराः । ततो भग्ना नृपतयो हन्यमाना दिशो ययुः ॥ १-६६-२४

Gods were highly pleased, they gave me an army of four divisions (chariots, elephants, horses and infantry ). Then those kings who were beaten and defeated ( by Gods army ), fled away in different directions . - ॥ 1-66-24॥

daduzca paramaprItAzcaturaMgabalaM surAH । tato bhagnA nRpatayo hanyamAnA dizo yayuH ॥ 1-66-24

अवीर्या वीर्यसंदिग्धाः सामात्याः पापकारिणः । तदेतन्मुनिशार्दूल धनुः परमभास्वरम् ॥ १-६६-२५

- along with their ministers. They were wicked, exhausted and doubtful about their energy. Oh ! tiger among asceties, this is that supremely radiant bow - ॥ 1-66-25॥

avIryA vIryasaMdigdhAH sAmAtyAH pApakAriNaH । tadetanmunizArdUla dhanuH paramabhAsvaram ॥ 1-66-25
