सुरकार्यमिदं रंभे कर्तव्यं सुमहत्त्वया । लोभनं कौशिकस्येह काममोहसमन्वितम् ॥ १-६४-१
'Oh ! Rambha, you must entice Viswamitra by lust and passion. This important work must be done by you in the interest of the gods'. ( Thus Indra ordered Rambha ) ॥ 1-64-1॥
english translation
surakAryamidaM raMbhe kartavyaM sumahattvayA । lobhanaM kauzikasyeha kAmamohasamanvitam ॥ 1-64-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतथोक्ता साप्सरा राम सहस्राक्षेण धीमता । व्रीडिता प्रांजलिर्वाक्यं प्रत्युवाच सुरेश्वरम् ॥ १-६४-२
Oh ! Rama, to these words of the sagacious, thousandeyed Lord of the gods (Indra) that apsara with folded hands bashfully replied ॥ 1-64-2॥
english translation
tathoktA sApsarA rAma sahasrAkSeNa dhImatA । vrIDitA prAMjalirvAkyaM pratyuvAca surezvaram ॥ 1-64-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअयं सुरपते घोरो विश्वामित्रो महामुनिः । क्रोधमुत्स्रक्ष्यते घोरं मयि देव न संशयः ॥ १-६४-३
- 'Oh ! chief of gods ( Indra ), that great saint Vishvamitra is a dangerous one and he will ceratinly release on his dreadful anger on me. - ॥ 1-64-3॥
english translation
ayaM surapate ghoro vizvAmitro mahAmuniH । krodhamutsrakSyate ghoraM mayi deva na saMzayaH ॥ 1-64-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततो हि मे भयं देव प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि । एवमुक्तस्तया राम सभयं भीतया तदा ॥ १-६४-४
- Oh ! god, thereby I am fearful of him. Hence, it will be apt of you to accord forbearance'. Oh ! Rama, when scared Rambha spoke to him in that way . - ॥ 1-64-4॥
english translation
tato hi me bhayaM deva prasAdaM kartumarhasi । evamuktastayA rAma sabhayaM bhItayA tadA ॥ 1-64-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतामुवाच सहस्राक्षो वेपमानां कृतांजलिम् । मा भैषि रंभे भद्रं ते कुरुष्व मम शासनम् ॥ १-६४-५
- while shuddering in fear and making palm fold in supplication, the Thousand-eyed Indra replied her ( Rambha ): 'O Rambha have no fear. Feel safe. Carry out my order. - ॥ 1-64-5॥
english translation
tAmuvAca sahasrAkSo vepamAnAM kRtAMjalim । mA bhaiSi raMbhe bhadraM te kuruSva mama zAsanam ॥ 1-64-5
