सुरसेनागणपतिमभ्यषिंचन्महाद्युतिम् | ततस्तममराः सर्वे समेत्याग्निपुरोगमाः || १-३७-३०

All of the celestial then came together under the leadership of Fire-god and they anointed that highly resplendent boy, Skanda, or Kaarthikeya, as the Chief of Celestial Army troops. [1-37-30]
