सुरसेनागणपतिमभ्यषिंचन्महाद्युतिम् । ततस्तममराः सर्वे समेत्याग्निपुरोगमाः ॥ १-३७-३०

All of the celestial then came together under the leadership of Fire-god and they anointed that highly resplendent boy, Skanda, or Kaarthikeya, as the Chief of Celestial Army troops. ॥ 1-37-30॥

surasenAgaNapatimabhyaSiMcanmahAdyutim । tatastamamarAH sarve sametyAgnipurogamAH ॥ 1-37-30
