papraccha munizArdUlam kautUhala samanvitaH | bhagavan kaH nu ayam dezaH samRddha vana zobhitaH || 1-31-23

श्रोतुम् इच्छामि भद्रम् ते वक्तुम् अर्हसि तत्त्वतः | चोदितो राम वाक्येन कथयामास सुव्रतः |तस्य देशस्य निखिलम् ऋषि मध्ये महातपाः || १-३१-२४

sanskrit

- I wish to hear from you. You be blest! It will be apt of you tell about it, in essence." Sage Vishvamitra whose vows are unselfish and whose ascesis is exalted, motivated with the words of Rama and staying amidst the sages, started to tell all about that place. [1-31-24]

english translation

zrotum icchAmi bhadram te vaktum arhasi tattvataH | codito rAma vAkyena kathayAmAsa suvrataH |tasya dezasya nikhilam RSi madhye mahAtapAH || 1-31-24
