अथ तस्याप्रमेयस्य वचनं परिपृच्छतः । विश्वामित्रो महातेजा व्याख्यातुमुपचक्रमे ॥ १-२९-१
The highly resplendent sage Vishwamitra heard the words of Rama of immeasurable prowess. On his (Rama's) query about the forest, Vishwamitra explains. ॥ 1-29-1॥
english translation
atha tasyAprameyasya vacanaM paripRcchataH । vizvAmitro mahAtejA vyAkhyAtumupacakrame ॥ 1-29-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइह राम महाबाहो विष्णुर्देवनमस्कृतः । वर्षाणि सुबहूनीह तथा युगशतानि च ॥ १-२९-२
- "Oh ! mightyarmed Rama, Lord Visnu, who is worshipped by gods, for innumerable years constituting hundreds of yugas - ॥ 1-29-2॥
english translation
iha rAma mahAbAho viSNurdevanamaskRtaH । varSANi subahUnIha tathA yugazatAni ca ॥ 1-29-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतपश्चरणयोगार्थमुवास सुमहातपाः । एष पूर्वाश्रमो राम वामनस्य महात्मनः ॥ १-२९-३
- lived here carrying out yogic practices and penance and master the great ascesis. This is the erstwhile hermitage of great-souled Vaamana . - ॥ 1-29-3॥
english translation
tapazcaraNayogArthamuvAsa sumahAtapAH । eSa pUrvAzramo rAma vAmanasya mahAtmanaH ॥ 1-29-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसिद्धाश्रम इति ख्यातः सिद्धो ह्यत्र महातपाः । एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु राजा वैरोचनिर्बलिः ॥ १-२९-४
- renowned as Accomplished hermitage ( because the sage with supreme ascesis Kaashyapa, got accomplishment to such of his ascesis here only ). During the period, Vishnu (in the incarnation of Vamana) was observing austerities at this hermitage, king Bali, son of Virochana . - ॥ 1-29-4॥

siddhAzrama iti khyAtaH siddho hyatra mahAtapAH । etasminneva kAle tu rAjA vairocanirbaliH ॥ 1-29-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनिर्जित्य दैवतगणान् सेन्द्रान् समरुद्गणान् । कारयामास तद्राज्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु विश्रुतः ॥ १-२९-५
- having vanquished Indra and maruts and devatas ruled this kingdom and became famous in all the three worlds (for his prowess and generosity.) ॥ 1-29-5॥

nirjitya daivatagaNAn sendrAn samarudgaNAn । kArayAmAsa tadrAjyaM triSu lokeSu vizrutaH ॥ 1-29-5
