एवमुक्तौतु तौ वीरौ कबन्धेन नरेश्वरौ । गिरिप्रदरमासाद्य पावकं विससर्जतुः ॥ ३-७२-१
Thus said by Kabandha, the two lords of men, the heroes reached a cave in the mountain and lighted the fire. ॥ 3-72-1॥
english translation
evamuktautu tau vIrau kabandhena narezvarau । giripradaramAsAdya pAvakaM visasarjatuH ॥ 3-72-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptलक्ष्मणस्तु महोल्काभिर्ज्वलिताभिस्समन्ततः । चितामादीपयामास सा प्रजज्वाल सर्वतः ॥ ३-७२-२
Lakshmana lit the pyre with big meteor like logs on all sides and it burned. ॥ 3-72-2॥

lakSmaNastu maholkAbhirjvalitAbhissamantataH । citAmAdIpayAmAsa sA prajajvAla sarvataH ॥ 3-72-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतच्छरीरं कबन्धस्य घृतपिण्डोपमं महत् । मेदसा पच्यमानस्य मन्दं दहति पावकः ॥ ३-७२-३
As the flesh of Kabandha's body decomposed, if burnt slowly in the fire although it was like a huge mass of fat. ॥ 3-72-3॥
english translation
taccharIraM kabandhasya ghRtapiNDopamaM mahat । medasA pacyamAnasya mandaM dahati pAvakaH ॥ 3-72-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस विधूय चितामाशु विधूमोऽग्निरिवोत्थितः । अरजे वाससी बिभ्रन्मालां दिव्यां महाबलः ॥ ३-७२-४
Mighty Kabandha shook himself off the funeral pyre and rose like smokeless fire, wearing a pair of clean clothes and a divine garland. ॥ 3-72-4॥
english translation
sa vidhUya citAmAzu vidhUmo'gnirivotthitaH । araje vAsasI bibhranmAlAM divyAM mahAbalaH ॥ 3-72-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptततश्चिताया वेगेन भास्वरो विमलाम्बरः । उत्पपाताशु संहृष्टस्सर्वप्रत्यङ्गभूषणः ॥ ३-७२-५
Thereafter shining brightly in pure clothes and wearing ornaments all over the body, Kabandha hurtled out happily and instantaneously from the pyre. ॥ 3-72-5॥
