शयिष्यसे हतो भूमौ यथा भ्राता खरस्तथा । परेतकाले पुरुषो यत्कर्म प्रतिपद्यते ॥ ३-५१-३१
Like your brother Khara, you will lie on the ground dead. Like a dying man, you have resorted to action - [3-51-31]
english translation
विनाशायात्मनोऽधर्म्यं प्रतिपन्नोऽसि कर्म तत् । पापानुबन्धो वै यस्य कर्मणः कर्मको नु तत् ॥ ३-५१-३२
- which is unrighteous. This action of yours will spell your destruction. If the consequences of an action be sin, who will do it? [3-51-32]
english translation
कुर्वीत लोकाधिपतिस्स्वयंभूर्भगवानपि । एवमुक्त्वा शुभं वाक्यं जटायुस्तस्य रक्षसः ॥ ३-५१-३३
Even the self-born lord of the world may not.' Jatayu having thus said these cautious words to the demon - [3-51-33]

निपपात भृशं पृष्ठे दशग्रीवस्य वीर्यवान् । तं गृहीत्वा नखैस्तीक्ष्णैर्विददार समन्ततः ॥ ३-५१-३४
- the valorous one ( Jataayu ) dashed against his back again and again. Thereafter, seizing him ( Ravana ), he ( Jatayu ) pierced his body all over with his sharp claws . - [3-51-34]

अधिरूढो गजारोहो यथा स्याद्दुष्टवारणम् । विददार नखैरस्य तुण्डं पृष्ठे समर्पयन् ॥ ३-५१-३५
- by ascending on his back just as a rider goads an unruly elephant. He ( Jatayu ) pierced and pricked him ( Ravana ) all over with his nails by pressing his beak on his back . - [3-51-35]
