सा तं सम्प्रेक्ष्य सुश्रोणी कुसुमान्यपचिन्वती । हेमराजतवर्णाभ्यां पार्श्वाभ्यामुपशोभितम् ॥ ३-४३-१

Sita who had fine hips, while plucking flowers, saw the deer with gold and silver colours on both sides of his body. ॥ 3-43-1॥

प्रहृष्टा चानवद्याङ्गी मृष्टहाटकवर्णिनी । भर्तारमपि चक्रन्द लक्ष्मणं चापि सायुधम् ॥ ३-४३-२

Sita with flawless beautiful limbs and pure golden complexion felt delighted and called out to Rama and Lakshmana who were equipped with arms. ॥ 3-43-2॥

तयाऽऽहूतौ नरव्याघ्रौ वैदेह्या रामलक्ष्मणौ । वीक्षमाणौ तु तौ देशं तदा ददृशतुर्मृगम् ॥ ३-४३-३

When Sita called Rama and Lakshmana, the two tigers among men, they looked around and saw the deer. ॥ 3-43-3॥

शङ्कमानस्तु तं दृष्ट्वा लक्ष्मणो राममब्रवीत् । तमेवैनमहं मन्ये मारीचं राक्षसं मृगम् ॥ ३-४३-४

Seeing the deer, Lakshmana suspected him to be Maricha and said this to Rama. ॥ 3-43-4॥

- 'Many kings, while on hunting expedition in the forest, have been deceitfully killed by malicious Maricha, who could assume any form at his free will. ॥ 3-43-5॥
