उपप्लवन्त वित्रस्ता रथेभ्यॊ रथिनस तदा सादिनश चाश्वपृष्ठेभ्यॊ भूमौ चापि पदातयः ॥ ४-५७-६ ॥
'Struck with fear, the chariot-warriors leapt from their cars, the horse-soldiers abandoned their mounts, and the foot-soldiers fled in all directions.' ॥ 4-57-6 ॥
english translation
शरैः संताड्यमानानां कवचानां महात्मनाम ताम्रराजतलॊहानां परादुरासीन महास्वनः ॥ ४-५७-७ ॥
'The clatter of Arjuna’s arrows, as they pierced the coats of mail of mighty warriors wrought of steel, silver, and copper, resounded across the field.' ॥ 4-57-7 ॥

छन्नम आयॊधनं सर्वं शरीरैर गतचेतसाम गजाश्वसादिभिस तत्र शितबाणात्त जीवितैः ॥ ४-५७-८ ॥
'The field was soon strewn with the corpses of warriors on elephants and horses, all mangled by the shafts of Partha, shot with great force, like the striking of hissing serpents.' ॥ 4-57-8 ॥

रथॊपस्थाभिपतितैर आस्तृता मानवैर मही परनृत्यद इव संग्रामे चापहस्तॊ धनंजयः ॥ ४-५७-९ ॥
'Beside their chariots lay the fallen warriors, and Dhananjaya, bow in hand, moved through the battlefield with the poise and vigor of a dancer.' ॥ 4-57-9 ॥

शरुत्वा गाण्डीवनिर्घॊषं विस्फूर्जितम इवाशनेः तरस्तानि सर्वभूतानि वयगच्छन्त महाहवात ॥ ४-५७-१० ॥
'Terrified by the twang of the Gandiva, sounding like rolling thunder, many combatants fled from that fearsome encounter.' ॥ 4-57-10 ॥
