[विरट] किमर्थं पाण्डवश्रेष्ठ भार्यां दुहितरं मम परतिग्रहीतुं नेमां तवं मया दत्ताम इहेच्छसि ॥ ४-६७-१ ॥
‘Virata said, 'Why, O best among the Pandavas, do you not wish to accept my daughter, whom I now offer to you as your wife?'’ ॥ 4-67-1 ॥
english translation
[अर्ज] अन्तःपुरे ऽहम उषितः सदा पश्यन सुतां तव रहस्यं च परकाशं च विश्वस्ता पितृवन मयि ॥ ४-६७-२ ॥
‘Arjuna replied, 'While residing within your inner chambers, I had frequent occasion to behold your daughter. Whether alone or in company, she always trusted me as she would a father.'’ ॥ 4-67-2 ॥
english translation
परियॊ बहुमतश चाहं नर्तकॊ गीतकॊविदः आचार्यवच च मां नित्यं मन्यते दुहिता तव ॥ ४-६७-३ ॥
‘Skilled in the arts of singing and dancing, she regarded me with affection and respect, and, indeed, has ever looked upon me as her teacher.’ ॥ 4-67-3 ॥
english translation
वहः सथया तया राजन सह संवत्सरॊषितः अति शङ्का भवेत सथाने तव लॊकस्य चाभिभॊ ॥ ४-६७-४ ॥
‘O king, I have lived within the same household with your daughter for an entire year, even though she had attained the age of youth. Under such circumstances, it would not be unnatural for you, or for others, to harbour doubts concerning her or myself.’ ॥ 4-67-4 ॥

तस्मान निमन्त्रये तवाहं दुहितुः पृथिवीपते शुद्धॊ जितेन्द्रियॊ दान्तस तस्याः शुद्धिः कृता मया ॥ ४-६७-५ ॥
‘Therefore, O monarch, I, who am pure and ever in control of my senses, beseech you to grant your daughter to me as a daughter-in-law. In this way, I affirm her chastity and honor.’ ॥ 4-67-5 ॥
