[वै] याते तरिगर्तं मत्स्ये तु पशूंस तान सवान परीप्सति दुर्यॊधनः सहामात्यॊ विराटम उपयाद अथ ॥ ४-३३-१ ॥
'Vaisampayana said: When the king of the Matsyas, eager to recover his cattle, had departed in pursuit of the Trigartas, Duryodhana, accompanied by his counsellors, invaded the dominion of Virata.' ॥ 4-33-1 ॥
english translation
भीष्मॊ दरॊणश च कर्णश च कृपश च परमास्त्र वित दरौणिश च सौबलश चैव तथा दुःक्शासनः परभुः ॥ ४-३३-२ ॥
'Then Bhishma, Drona, Karna, Kripa—masters of the foremost weapons—as well as Ashwatthama, the son of Suvala (Shakuni), Dussasana .' ॥ 4-33-2 ॥

विविंशतिर विकर्णश च चित्रसेनश च वीर्यवान दुर्मुखॊ दुःसहश चैव ये चैवान्ये मरा रथाः ॥ ४-३३-३ ॥
'O lord of men, Vivingsati, Vikarna, Chitrasena of great energy, and also Durmukha and Dussaha ' ॥ 4-33-3 ॥
english translation
एते मत्स्यान उपागम्य विराटस्य महीपतेः घॊषान विद्राव्य तरसा गॊधनं जह्रुर ओजसा ॥ ४-३३-४ ॥
' these and many other mighty warriors, entering the Matsya territory, swiftly drove away King Virata’s cowherds and carried off the cattle by force.' ॥ 4-33-4 ॥

षष्टिं गवां सहस्राणि कुरवः कालयन्ति ते महता रथवंशेन परिवार्य समन्ततः ॥ ४-३३-५ ॥
'And the Kauravas, surrounding them on all sides with a vast host of chariots, seized sixty thousand head of cattle.' ॥ 4-33-5 ॥
