Arjuna said: If you deem insight (buddhi) superior to action, O Janārdana, then why, O Keśava, do you urge me toward this dreadful action?

english translation

With statements that seem mixed, you appear to confuse my understanding. Therefore, state decisively one single course by which I may attain what is truly beneficial.

english translation

The Blessed Lord said: In this world, O sinless one, I long ago taught a twofold discipline—through the yoga of knowledge for the Sāṅkhyas, and through the yoga of action for the yogins.

english translation

A person does not attain naiṣkarmya—freedom from the bondage of action—merely by not initiating actions; nor does one reach perfection through renunciation alone.

english translation

For no one ever remains, even for a moment, without performing action; everyone is compelled to act by the guṇas born of prakṛti.
