Having eliminated the sons of Dhṛtarāṣṭra, what satisfaction could be ours, O Janārdana? Even if they are aggressors, wrongdoing alone would attach to us by eliminating them.

english translation

Therefore, we are not fit to undertake the killing of the Dhārtarāṣṭras together with their relatives. For how, O Mādhava, could we be happy after causing the death of our own people?

english translation

Even if these people, with minds impaired by greed, do not perceive the fault produced by the destruction of the family line, nor the moral transgression involved in betrayal of allies and friends—

english translation

How could it not be known to us that we should turn away from wrongdoing—when we clearly perceive the fault that arises from the destruction of the family line, O Janārdana?

english translation

With the destruction of the family line, the perennial family-ordinances are lost. When dharma is lost, the entire family is then overcome by adharma.
