When adharma prevails, O Kṛṣṇa, the women of the family become vulnerable to corruption and coercive conditions; and when women are thus compromised, O Vārṣṇeya, social intermixture and confusion of status (varṇasaṃkara) arises.

english translation

Such social intermixture brings grievous suffering upon the destroyers of the family line and upon the family itself. Indeed, their ancestors fall, for the piṇḍa‑udaka rites—the offerings of rice-balls and water—are cut off.

english translation

By these faults—committed by those who destroy the family line and thereby bring about varṇasaṃkara—the enduring duties of social groups (jātidharmāḥ) and the perennial ordinances of the family (kuladharmāḥ) are overthrown.

english translation

O Janārdana, we have heard that for those whose family ordinances have been destroyed, dwelling in a hellish state is assured.

english translation

Alas, we have resolved to commit a grievous sin: out of greed for the pleasures of sovereignty, we are prepared to slay our own kinsmen.
