I see omens that are adverse, O Keśava, and I do not perceive any good in having eliminated my own people in battle.

english translation

I do not desire victory, O Kṛṣṇa, nor kingship, nor pleasures. What use is kingship to us, O Govinda—what use are enjoyments, or even life?

english translation

Those for whose sake we desired kingship, enjoyments, and pleasures—those very persons stand here in war, having set aside their lives and their wealth.

english translation

Teachers, fathers, sons, and also grandfathers; maternal uncles, fathers-in-law, grandsons, brothers-in-law, and other relations as well—

english translation

I do not wish to eliminate them, O Madhusūdana, even if they were to eliminate me—not even for the sake of sovereignty over the three worlds, much less for the sake of the earth.
