Sushruta Samhita
भिषक् कर्ताऽथ करणं रसा दोषास्तु कारणम् । कार्यमारोग्यमेवैकमनारोग्यमतोऽन्यथा ॥१४॥
The physician is the doer, and the means are the rasas; the doshas are the causes. The goal is health, not disease, hence the treatment should be aimed at restoring health.

चिकित्सक कर्ता है, साधन रस हैं; दोष कारण हैं। लक्ष्य स्वास्थ्य है, बीमारी नहीं, इसलिए उपचार का उद्देश्य स्वास्थ्य को बहाल करना होना चाहिए।
