पित्तप्रशमनं यच्च तच्च सर्वं समाचरेत्) । (हेमन्तः शीतलो रूक्षो मन्दसूर्योऽनिलाकुलः ॥२१॥
The activities that help in the alleviation of pitta should be practiced during the winter season, which is cold, dry, with a mild sun and disturbed by winds.

The rasa (digestive juice) is quickly dried up, so during the Hemanta (winter), it is beneficial to use oily, saline, alkaline, bitter, sour, and pungent substances.

रस (पाचक रस) शीघ्र सूख जाता है, इसलिए हेमन्त ऋतु में तैलीय, लवणीय, क्षारीय, कड़वे, खट्टे तथा तीखे पदार्थों का प्रयोग करना हितकर होता है।
