सर्वात्मके पवनपित्तकफा यथास्वं संहर्षिता इव च लिङ्गमुदीरयन्ति ॥११॥

The symptoms of insanity manifest in individuals who are influenced by the disturbance of all three doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—each showing their respective signs. These signs appear as if the person is overwhelmed or excited by the specific imbalance of these doshas.

चौरैर्नरेन्द्रपुरुषैररिभिस्तथाऽन्यैर्वित्रासितस्य धनबान्धवसङ्क्षयाद्वा । गाढं क्षते मनसि च प्रियया रिरंसोर्जायेत चोत्कटतरो मनसो विकारः ॥१२॥

The mind of a person who is severely disturbed due to fear—whether from thieves, royal officials, enemies, or the loss of wealth and loved ones—undergoes a deep, intense change. This mental disturbance arises from grief or separation, causing an overwhelming disorder in the mind, which may manifest as insanity.

चित्रं स जल्पति मनोनुगतं विसञ्ज्ञो गायत्यथो हसति रोदिति मूढसञ्ज्ञः । रक्तेक्षणो हतबलेन्द्रियभाः सुदीनः श्यावाननो विषकृतेऽथ भवेत् परासुः ॥१३॥

A person with insanity, who is deprived of his senses, speaks incoherently, sings, laughs, or weeps without control. His eyes become red, his vital energies are weakened, his body turns pale or blackish, and his physical strength is depleted, possibly due to poisoning, which leads to a worse condition.

पागलपन से ग्रस्त व्यक्ति, जो अपनी इंद्रियों से वंचित हो जाता है, असंगत रूप से बोलता है, गाता है, हंसता है, या बेकाबू होकर रोता है। उसकी आंखें लाल हो जाती हैं, उसकी महत्वपूर्ण ऊर्जा कमजोर हो जाती है, उसका शरीर पीला या काला पड़ जाता है, और उसकी शारीरिक शक्ति कम हो जाती है, संभवतः जहर के कारण, जिससे उसकी हालत और खराब हो जाती है।

स्निग्धं स्विन्नं तु मनुजमुन्मादार्तं विशोधयेत् । तीक्ष्णैरुभयतोभागैः शिरसश्च विरेचनैः ॥१४॥

The person suffering from insanity should be treated with a detoxifying process using oily and sweat-inducing therapies. Sharp purgatives should be administered both orally and through the head to cleanse the body.

पागलपन से पीड़ित व्यक्ति को तैलीय और पसीना लाने वाली चिकित्सा पद्धतियों का उपयोग करके विषहरण प्रक्रिया से उपचारित किया जाना चाहिए। शरीर को शुद्ध करने के लिए मुंह से और सिर के माध्यम से तीक्ष्ण रेचक औषधियां दी जानी चाहिए।

विविधैरवपीडैश्च सर्षपस्नेहसंयुतैः । योजयित्वा तु तच्चूर्णं घ्राणे तस्य प्रयोजयेत् ॥१५॥

Various types of powders mixed with mustard oil should be used in treatment. These should be applied through the nose (as snuff) to the patient suffering from insanity.

उपचार में विभिन्न प्रकार के चूर्णों को सरसों के तेल में मिलाकर प्रयोग करना चाहिए तथा पागलपन से पीड़ित रोगी को नाक के माध्यम से सूंघना चाहिए।
