The air, when aggravated by dry, astringent, bitter, and pungent foods, causes an immediate upward movement, leading to an upward expulsion (udavarta).

The air (vata), along with urine, feces, mucus, and the products of fat metabolism, obstructs the channels and causes the upward movement (udavarta), leading to the excessive flow of feces.

Then, suffering from heart pain, bladder pain, and colic, disturbed by heaviness, distaste, and pain, a person, due to the obstruction of air, urine, and feces, performs these bodily functions with great difficulty.
