प्राणो ह्युदानानुगतः प्रदुष्टः सम्भिन्नकांस्यस्वनतुल्यघोषः । निरेति वक्त्रात् सहसा सदोषः कासः स विद्वद्भिरुदाहृतस्तु ॥५॥
When the Prana (vital air) is disturbed, along with the Udana-Vayu, it causes a disruption, leading to a sound similar to that of a broken bell. This sound is emitted suddenly from the mouth, and this condition is recognized as cough (Kasa) by learned physicians.

जब प्राण (प्राण वायु) के साथ-साथ उदान-वायु में गड़बड़ी होती है, तो यह व्यवधान पैदा करता है, जिससे टूटी हुई घंटी जैसी ध्वनि उत्पन्न होती है। यह ध्वनि मुंह से अचानक निकलती है, और इस स्थिति को विद्वान चिकित्सक खांसी (कास) के रूप में पहचानते हैं।
