गुल्मवद्वा विशालत्वाद्गुल्म इत्यभिधीयते | स यस्मादात्मनि चयं गच्छत्यप्स्विव बुद्बुदः ||६||

A condition is called Gulma when it expands and becomes large, much like a bubble that grows and moves upward in water. This is similar to the way the disease, Gulma, grows within the body and expands.

अन्तः सरति यस्माच्च न पाकमुपयात्यतः | स व्यस्तैर्जायते दोषैः समस्तैरपि चोच्छ्रितैः ||७||

When something moves inside without undergoing digestion or transformation, it causes disturbance by accumulating and becoming deranged due to all the doshas (bodily humors), leading to an aggravated state. This is the nature of the condition described.

The condition is to be recognized by the presence of blood, which is another sign. It causes intense discomfort in both men and women, resembling the roaring of a fire inside, akin to the crackling sound of burning wood.

The conditions of heart and abdominal pain, dryness of the mouth and throat, obstruction of wind, irregular digestive fire, and other such disorders are caused by the deranged wind (Vayu) in the body. These are the signs of Gulma that arise due to the disturbance of the wind element.
