संशम्यापान्धातुरन्तः कृशानुं वर्चोमिश्रो मारुतेन प्रणुन्नः । वृद्धोऽतीवाधः सरत्येष यस्माद्व्याधिं घोरं तं त्वतीसारमाहुः ॥६॥
When the vital fluids inside the body are disturbed and the internal fire (digestive power) is suppressed, the fecal matter, mixed with bodily fluids, is forcibly expelled by the aggravated Vata. This excessive downward movement is referred to as the severe condition known as Atisara (diarrhea).

Atisara (diarrhea) is classified based on the involvement of individual Doshas, all three Doshas together, grief, or Ama (undigested food). Some authorities assert that it does not manifest in a singular or uniform manner. However, King of Kashi (Dhanvantari) declared it otherwise.

The conditions of the Doshas in Atisara (diarrhea) manifest in various forms at different times in the patient. Symptoms include discomfort in the heart, navel, anus, abdomen, and flanks, along with exhaustion, weakness of the limbs, and obstruction of the flow of Vata (vital air).

The patient will experience symptoms such as distention (Vata-related bloating), indigestion, and fermentation (due to improper digestion). The signs include severe pain (shool) in the body, the passage of sticky or painful urine, and the presence of intense fatigue. Additionally, there may be a loss of strength, a swollen abdomen, and weakness in the thighs and legs.

The stool will be scanty, frothy, dry, dark in color, and accompanied by an unpleasant odor. It will be hot, propelled by Vata, and resemble the appearance of meat and water. The stool will also be irregular, with a body that is excessively sweaty, weak, and extremely intense in nature.

मल कम मात्रा में, झागदार, सूखा, गहरे रंग का होगा और उसमें अप्रिय गंध होगी। यह गर्म होगा, वात से प्रेरित होगा और मांस और पानी जैसा दिखाई देगा। मल भी अनियमित होगा, शरीर अत्यधिक पसीने वाला, कमजोर और अत्यधिक तीव्र स्वभाव का होगा।
