The verse suggests that Durva (a type of grass), Punarnava (a medicinal herb), and other ingredients such as Maha-Sugandha (likely a fragrant herb) or Palindi (another plant) should be used in the form of a paste (lepa) for treatment. These should be prepared with sour substances (like tamarind or other souring agents) and applied appropriately to the affected area. The use of such medicinal pastes is considered beneficial for the condition being treated.
