ततः प्रमृज्य प्लोतेन वर्त्म शस्त्रपदाङ्कितम् । लिखेच्छस्त्रेण पत्रैर्वा, ततो रक्ते स्थिते पुनः ॥६॥

Then, after gently wiping and cleansing the affected area with a cloth, the marked part of the eye (where the incision is to be made) should be scraped using a surgical instrument or a rough leaf. Once blood has stopped flowing from the scraped area, it should be further treated.

स्विन्नं मनोह्वाकासीसव्योषार्द्राञ्जनसैन्धवैः । श्लक्ष्णपिष्टैः समाक्षीकैः प्रतिसार्योष्णवारिणा ॥७॥

The scraped area should be treated with a mixture of moist Kasisa (Sulphate of iron), oily substances, black antimony, and Saindhava salt. These should be finely powdered and applied to the area, followed by gentle rubbing with warm water.

प्रक्षाल्य हविषा सिक्तं व्रणवत् समुपाचरेत् । स्वेदावपीडप्रभृतींस्त्र्यहादूर्ध्वं प्रयोजयेत् ॥८॥

After washing the treated area, it should be dressed with clarified butter and treated like a wound (Vrana). The area should be subjected to fomentation, pressure, and other similar treatments for three days, and further care should be continued thereafter.

उपचारित क्षेत्र को धोने के बाद, उस पर घी लगाकर पट्टी बांधनी चाहिए और घाव (व्रण) की तरह उसका उपचार करना चाहिए। उस क्षेत्र पर तीन दिनों तक सिंकाई, दबाव और इसी तरह के अन्य उपचार किए जाने चाहिए और उसके बाद आगे की देखभाल जारी रखनी चाहिए।

व्यासतस्ते समुद्दिष्टं विधानं लेख्यकर्मणि । असृगास्रावरहितं कण्डूशोफविवर्जितम् ॥९॥

The procedure described for scarification (Lekha-karma) should ensure that there is no excessive bleeding, no itching, and no swelling. The affected area should be free of such complications as these for the treatment to be considered successful.

समं नखनिभं वर्त्म लिखितं सम्यगिष्यते । रक्तमक्षि स्रवेत् स्कन्नं क्षताच्छस्त्रकृताद्ध्रुवम् ॥१०॥

The scarified area should have a smooth, level surface resembling the nail. If blood flows and the surface becomes soft or appears damaged, it indicates that the scarification was done improperly, likely due to the instrument's excessive action or technique.
