रागशोफपरिस्रावास्तिमिरं व्याध्यनिर्जयः । वर्त्म श्यावं गुरु स्तब्धं कण्डूहर्षोपदेहवत् ॥११॥

The symptoms of proper scarification include the cessation of pain, swelling, and discharge, along with the elimination of darkness (Timira) and the disease itself. The affected area will show a smooth, non-swollen, non-hard appearance, without any itching or excessive dryness.

नेत्रपाकमुदीर्णं वा कुर्वीताप्रतिकारिणः । एतद्दुर्लिखितं ज्ञेयं स्नेहयित्वा पुनार्लिखेत् ॥१२॥

If the eye becomes inflamed after scarification, and the condition is not improving, it should be treated with an ointment or oil. If the initial scarification was not effective, the area should be re-scraped after applying a soothing remedy.

अगर स्कारिफिकेशन के बाद आंख में सूजन आ जाती है और स्थिति में सुधार नहीं होता है, तो इसका इलाज मरहम या तेल से किया जाना चाहिए। अगर शुरुआती स्कारिफिकेशन कारगर नहीं रहा, तो आराम देने वाला उपाय लगाने के बाद उस क्षेत्र को फिर से खुरचना चाहिए।

व्यावर्तते यदा वर्त्म पक्ष्म चापि विमुह्यति । स्यात् सरुक् स्रावबहुलं तदतिस्रावितं विदुः ॥१३॥

When the eye-lid turns and the eye lashes become disoriented, accompanied by excessive discharge and flowing fluid, it is considered an over-scraped condition. This indicates that the area has been excessively scraped.

The wise physician should slowly and carefully mark the affected area (in the case of Pothaki), ensuring that it is properly cleared of any obstruction or foreign matter. The same method should be applied when dealing with dark, thick, or sticky (Kardama-like) eye conditions.
