सुवृत्तं गोस्तनाकारं सर्वभूतगुणोद्भवम् | पलं भुवोऽग्नितो रक्तं वातात् कृष्णं सितं जलात् ||११||

The well-formed, cow-like, spherical shape of the eye is the origin of all the qualities of the elements. The eye is influenced by various factors: its fluidity is governed by the earth, its redness by fire, its blackness by air, and its whiteness by water.

आँख का सुगठित, गाय जैसा, गोलाकार आकार सभी तत्वों के गुणों का मूल है। आँख विभिन्न कारकों से प्रभावित होती है: इसकी तरलता पृथ्वी द्वारा नियंत्रित होती है, इसकी लालिमा अग्नि द्वारा, इसका कालापन वायु द्वारा और इसकी सफेदी जल द्वारा नियंत्रित होती है।

आकाशादश्रुमार्गाश्च जायन्ते नेत्रबुद्बुदे | दृष्टिं चात्र तथा वक्ष्ये यथा ब्रूयाद्विशारदः ||१२||

The channels for the tears arise from the sky (space), and they manifest in the eye as tear ducts. The vision, which is essential to this process, will be described here as a learned expert would explain it.

नेत्रायामत्रिभागं तु कृष्णमण्डलमुच्यते | कृष्णात् सप्तममिच्छन्ति दृष्टिं दृष्टिविशारदाः ||१३||

In the eye, the section known as the black circle (krishna-mandala) is referred to as the region of vision. The experts in vision (drishti-visharadāḥ) desire the seventh part of it for perfect vision.

मण्डलानि च सन्धींश्च पटलानि च लोचने | यथाक्रमं विजानीयात् पञ्च षट् च षडेव च ||१४||

The circles (mandalāni), joints (sandhīṁśca), and layers (paṭalāni) of the eye should be understood in their proper sequence, consisting of five, six, and six parts, respectively.

पक्ष्मवर्त्मश्वेतकृष्णदृष्टीनां मण्डलानि तु | अनुपूर्वं तु ते मध्याश्चत्वारोऽन्त्या यथोत्तरम् ||१५||

The circles (mandalāni) of the eye, related to the eyelashes (pakṣmavṛttma), are of white and black color, corresponding to the vision. They should be understood in succession, with four in the middle and others in the order towards the end, as described.
