Srimad Bhagavatam
सर्वे लीलावतारास्ते भूतानां भूतिहेतवः । ज्ञातुमिच्छाम्यदो रूपं यदर्थं भवता धृतम् ॥ ८-२४-२९ ॥
All Your pastimes and incarnations certainly appear for the welfare of all living entities. Therefore, my Lord, I wish to know the purpose for which You have assumed this form of a fish. ॥ 8-24-29 ॥
english translation
आपकी सारी लीलाएँ तथा अवतार निश्चय ही समस्त जीवों के कल्याण के लिए होते हैं। अतएव हे प्रभु! मैं वह प्रयोजन जानना चाहता हूँ जिसके लिए आपने यह मत्स्यरूप धारण किया है। ॥ ८-२४-२९ ॥
