मैत्रेय उवाच स्वसम्भवं निशाम्यैवं तपोविद्यासमाधिभिः । यावन्मनो वचः स्तुत्वा विरराम स खिन्नवत् ॥ ३-९-२६ ॥
The sage Maitreya said: O Vidura, after observing the source of his appearance, namely the Personality of Godhead, Brahmā prayed for His mercy as far as his mind and words would permit him. Thus having prayed, he became silent, as if tired from his activities of penance, knowledge and mental concentration. ॥ 3-9-26 ॥
english translation
मैत्रेय मुनि ने कहा : हे विदुर, अपने प्राकट्य के स्रोत अर्थात् भगवान् को देखकर ब्रह्मा ने अपने मन तथा वाणी की क्षमता के अनुसार उनकी कृपा हेतु यथासम्भव स्तुति की। इस प्रकार स्तुति करने के बाद वे मौन हो गये मानो अपनी तपस्या, ज्ञान तथा मानसिक एकाग्रता के कारण वे थक गये हों। ॥ ३-९-२६ ॥

अथाभिप्रेतमन्वीक्ष्य ब्रह्मणो मधुसूदनः । विषण्णचेतसं तेन कल्पव्यतिकराम्भसा ॥ ३-९-२७ ॥
The Lord saw that Brahmā was very anxious about the planning and construction of the different planetary systems and was depressed upon seeing the devastating water. ॥ 3-9-27 ॥

भगवान् ने देखा कि ब्रह्माजी विभिन्न लोकों की योजना बनाने तथा उनके निर्माण को लेकर अतीव चिन्तित हैं और प्रलयंकारी जल को देखकर खिन्न हैं। ॥ ३-९-२७ ॥

लोकसंस्थानविज्ञान आत्मनः परिखिद्यतः । तमाहागाधया वाचा कश्मलं शमयन्निव ॥ ३-९-२८ ॥
He could understand the intention of Brahmā, and thus He spoke in deep, thoughtful words, removing all the illusion that had arisen. ॥ 3-9-28 ॥

वे ब्रह्मा के मनोभाव को समझ गये, अत: उन्होंने उत्पन्न मोह को दूर करते हुए गम्भीर एवं विचारपूर्ण शब्द कहे। ॥ ३-९-२८ ॥

श्रीभगवानुवाच मा वेदगर्भ गास्तन्द्रीं सर्ग उद्यममावह । तन्मयाऽऽपादितं ह्यग्रे यन्मां प्रार्थयते भवान् ॥ ३-९-२९ ॥
The Supreme Personality of Godhead then said: O Brahmā, O depth of Vedic wisdom, be neither depressed nor anxious about the execution of creation. What you are begging from Me has already been granted before. ॥ 3-9-29 ॥

तब पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् ने कहा, “हे ब्रह्मा, हे वेदगर्भ, तुम सृष्टि करने के लिए न तो निराश होओ, न ही चिन्तित। तुम जो मुझसे माँग रहे हो वह तुम्हें पहले ही दिया जा चुका है। ॥ ३-९-२९ ॥

भूयस्त्वं तप आतिष्ठ विद्यां चैव मदाश्रयाम् । ताभ्यामन्तर्हृदि ब्रह्मन् लोकान् द्रक्ष्यस्यपावृतान् ॥ ३-९-३० ॥
O Brahmā, situate yourself in penance and meditation and follow the principles of knowledge to receive My favor. By these actions you will be able to understand everything from within your heart. ॥ 3-9-30 ॥
english translation
हे ब्रह्मा, तुम अपने को तपस्या तथा ध्यान में स्थित करो और मेरी कृपा पाने के लिए ज्ञान के सिद्धान्तों का पालन करो। इन कार्यों से तुम अपने हृदय के भीतर से हर बात को समझ सकोगे। ॥ ३-९-३० ॥
