भूतानां नभ आदीनां यद्यद्भव्यावरावरम् । तेषां परानुसंसर्गाद्यथा सङ्ख्यं गुणान् विदुः ।। ३-५-३६ ।।

sanskrit

O gentle one, of all the physical elements, beginning from the sky down to the earth, all the inferior and superior qualities are due only to the final touch of the glance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. ।। 3-5-36 ।।

english translation

हे भद्र पुरुष, आकाश से लेकर पृथ्वी तक के सारे भौतिक तत्त्वों में जितने सारे निम्न तथा श्रेष्ठ गुण पाये जाते हैं, वे भगवान् के दृष्टिपात के अन्तिम स्पर्श के कारण होते हैं। ।। ३-५-३६ ।।

एते देवाः कला विष्णोः कालमायांशलिङ्गिनः । नानात्वात्स्वक्रियानीशाः प्रोचुः प्राञ्जलयो विभुम् ।। ३-५-३७ ।।

sanskrit

The controlling deities of all the above-mentioned physical elements are empowered expansions of Lord Viṣṇu. They are embodied by eternal time under the external energy, and they are His parts and parcels. Because they were entrusted with different functions of universal duties and were unable to perform them, they offered fascinating prayers to the Lord as follows. ।। 3-5-37 ।।

english translation

उपर्युक्त समस्त भौतिक तत्त्वों के नियंत्रक देव भगवान् विष्णु के शक्त्याविष्ट अंश हैं। वे बहिरंगा शक्ति के अन्तर्गत नित्यकाल द्वारा देह धारण करते हैं और वे भगवान् के अंश हैं। चूँकि उन्हें ब्रह्माण्डीय दायित्वों के विभिन्न कार्य सौंपे गये थे और चूँकि वे उन्हें सम्पन्न करने में असमर्थ थे, अतएव उन्होंने भगवान् की मनोहारी स्तुतियाँ निम्नलिखित प्रकार से कीं। ।। ३-५-३७ ।।

देवा ऊचुः नमाम ते देवपदारविन्दं प्रपन्नतापोपशमातपत्रम् । यन्मूलकेता यतयोऽञ्जसोरुसंसारदुःखं बहिरुत्क्षिपन्ति ।। ३-५-३८ ।।

sanskrit

The demigods said: O Lord, Your lotus feet are like an umbrella for the surrendered souls, protecting them from all the miseries of material existence. All the sages under that shelter throw off all material miseries. We therefore offer our respectful obeisances unto Your lotus feet. ।। 3-5-38 ।।

english translation

देवताओं ने कहा : हे प्रभु, आपके चरणकमल शरणागतों के लिए छाते के समान हैं, जो संसार के समस्त कष्टों से उनकी रक्षा करते हैं। सारे मुनिगण उस आश्रय के अन्तर्गत समस्त भौतिक कष्टों को निकाल फेंकते हैं। अतएव हम आपके चरणकमलों को सादर नमस्कार करते है। ।। ३-५-३८ ।।

धातर्यदस्मिन् भव ईश जीवास्तापत्रयेणोपहता न शर्म । आत्मन् लभन्ते भगवंस्तवाङ्घ्रिच्छायां सविद्यामत आश्रयेम ।। ३-५-३९ ।।

sanskrit

O Father, O Lord, O Personality of Godhead, the living entities in the material world can never have any happiness because they are overwhelmed by the three kinds of miseries. Therefore they take shelter of the shade of Your lotus feet, which are full of knowledge, and we also thus take shelter of them. ।। 3-5-39 ।।

english translation

हे पिता, हे प्रभु, हे भगवान्, इस भौतिक संसार में जीवों को कभी कोई सुख प्राप्त नहीं हो सकता, क्योंकि वे तीन प्रकार के कष्टों से अभिभूत रहते हैं। अतएव वे आपके उन चरणकमलों की छाया की शरण ग्रहण करते हैं, जो ज्ञान से पूर्ण है और इस लिए हम भी उन्हीं की शरण लेते हैं। ।। ३-५-३९ ।।

मार्गन्ति यत्ते मुखपद्मनीडैश्छन्दःसुपर्णैरृषयो विविक्ते । यस्याघमर्षोदसरिद्वरायाः पदं पदं तीर्थपदः प्रपन्नाः ।। ३-५-४० ।।

sanskrit

The lotus feet of the Lord are by themselves the shelter of all places of pilgrimage. The great clear-minded sages, carried by the wings of the Vedas, always search after the nest of Your lotuslike face. Some of them surrender to Your lotus feet at every step by taking shelter of the best of rivers [the Ganges], which can deliver one from all sinful reactions. ।। 3-5-40 ।।

english translation

भगवान् के चरणकमल स्वयं ही समस्त तीर्थस्थलों के आश्रय हैं। निर्मल मनवाले महर्षिगण वेदों रूपी पंखों के सहारे उडक़र सदैव आपके कमल सदृश मुख रूपी घोंसले की खोज करते हैं। उनमें से कुछ सर्वश्रेष्ठ नदी (गंगा) में शरण लेकर पद-पद पर आपके चरणकमलों की शरण ग्रहण करते हैं, जो सारे पापफलों से मनुष्य का उद्धार कर सकते हैं। ।। ३-५-४० ।।
