स विश्वजन्मस्थितिसंयमार्थे कृतावतारः प्रगृहीतशक्तिः । चकार कर्माण्यतिपूरुषाणि यानीश्वरः कीर्तय तानि मह्यम् ॥ ३-५-१६ ॥
Kindly chant all those superhuman transcendental activities of the supreme controller, the Personality of Godhead, who accepted incarnations fully equipped with all potency for the full manifestation and maintenance of the cosmic creation. ॥ 3-5-16 ॥

कृपया उन परम नियन्ता भगवान् के समस्त अतिमानवीय दिव्य कर्मों का कीर्तन करें जिन्होंने विराट सृष्टि के प्राकट्य तथा पालन के लिए समस्त शक्ति से समन्वित होकर अवतार लेना स्वीकार किया। ॥ ३-५-१६ ॥

श्रीशुक उवाच स एवं भगवान् पृष्टः क्षत्त्रा कौषारविर्मुनिः । पुंसां निःश्रेयसार्थेन तमाह बहुमानयन् ॥ ३-५-१७ ॥
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: The great sage Maitreya Muni, after honoring Vidura very greatly, began to speak, at Vidura’s request, for the greatest welfare of all people. ॥ 3-5-17 ॥

शुकदेव गोस्वामी ने कहा : विदुर का अत्यधिक सम्मान करने के बाद विदुर के अनुरोध पर समस्त लोगों के महानतम कल्याण हेतु महर्षि मैत्रेय मुनि बोले। ॥ ३-५-१७ ॥

मैत्रेय उवाच साधु पृष्टं त्वया साधो लोकान् साध्वनुगृह्णता । कीर्तिं वितन्वता लोके आत्मनोऽधोक्षजात्मनः ॥ ३-५-१८ ॥
Śrī Maitreya said: O Vidura, all glory unto you. You have inquired from me of the greatest of all goodness, and thus you have shown your mercy both to the world and to me because your mind is always absorbed in thoughts of the Transcendence. ॥ 3-5-18 ॥
english translation
श्रीमैत्रेय ने कहा : हे विदुर, तुम्हारी जय हो। तुमने मुझसे सबसे अच्छी बात पूछी है। इस तरह तुमने संसार पर तथा मुझ पर अपनी कृपा प्रदर्शित की है, क्योंकि तुम्हारा मन सदैव ब्रह्म के विचारों में लीन रहता है। ॥ ३-५-१८ ॥

नैतच्चित्रं त्वयि क्षत्तर्बादरायणवीर्यजे । गृहीतोऽनन्यभावेन यत्त्वया हरिरीश्वरः ॥ ३-५-१९ ॥
O Vidura, it is not at all wonderful that you have so accepted the Lord without deviation of thought, for you were born from the semen of Vyāsadeva. ॥ 3-5-19 ॥

हे विदुर, यह तनिक भी आश्चर्यप्रद नहीं है कि तुमने अनन्य भाव से भगवान् को इस तरह स्वीकार कर लिया है, क्योंकि तुम व्यासदेव के वीर्य से उत्पन्न हो। ॥ ३-५-१९ ॥

माण्डव्यशापाद्भगवान् प्रजासंयमनो यमः । भ्रातुः क्षेत्रे भुजिष्यायां जातः सत्यवतीसुतात् ॥ ३-५-२० ॥
I know that you are now Vidura due to the cursing of Māṇḍavya Muni and that formerly you were King Yamarāja, the great controller of living entities after their death. You were begotten by the son of Satyavatī, Vyāsadeva, in the kept wife of his brother. ॥ 3-5-20 ॥

मैं जानता हूँ कि तुम माण्डव्य मुनि के शाप के कारण विदुर बने हो और इसके पूर्व तुम जीवों की मृत्यु के पश्चात उनके महान् नियंत्रक राजा यमराज थे। तुम सत्यवती के पुत्र व्यासदेव द्वारा उसके भाई की रखैल पत्नी से उत्पन्न हुए थे। ॥ ३-५-२० ॥
