विपन्नान्विषपानेन निगृह्य भुजगाधिपम् । उत्थाप्यापाययद्गावस्तत्तोयं प्रकृतिस्थितम् ।। ३-२-३१ ।।

sanskrit

The inhabitants of Vṛndāvana were perplexed by great difficulties because a certain portion of the Yamunā was poisoned by the chief of the reptiles [Kāliya]. The Lord chastised the snake-king within the water and drove him away, and after coming out of the river, He caused the cows to drink the water and proved that the water was again in its natural state. ।। 3-2-31 ।।

english translation

वृन्दावन के निवासी घोर विपत्ति के कारण परेशान थे, क्योंकि यमुना के कुछ अंश का जल सर्पों के प्रमुख (कालिय) द्वारा विषाक्त किया जा चुका था। भगवान् ने सर्पराज को जल के भीतर प्रताडि़त किया और उसे दूर खदेड़ दिया। फिर नदी से बाहर आकर उन्होंने गौवों को जल पिलाया तथा यह सिद्ध किया कि वह जल पुन: अपनी स्वाभाविक स्थिति में है। ।। ३-२-३१ ।।

अयाजयद्गोसवेन गोपराजं द्विजोत्तमैः । वित्तस्य चोरुभारस्य चिकीर्षन् सद्व्ययं विभुः ।। ३-२-३२ ।।

sanskrit

The Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa, desired to utilize the opulent financial strength of Mahārāja Nanda for worship of the cows, and also He wanted to give a lesson to Indra, the King of heaven. Thus He advised His father to perform worship of go, or the pasturing land and the cows, with the help of learned brāhmaṇas. ।। 3-2-32 ।।

english translation

भगवान् कृष्ण महाराज नन्द की ऐश्वर्यशाली आर्थिक शक्ति का उपयोग गौवों की पूजा के लिए कराना चाहते थे और वे स्वर्ग के राजा इन्द्र को भी पाठ पढ़ाना चाह रहे थे। अत: उन्होंने अपने पिता को सलाह दी थी कि वे विद्वान ब्राह्मणों की सहायता से गो अर्थात् चरागाह तथा गौवों की पूजा कराएँ। ।। ३-२-३२ ।।

वर्षतीन्द्रे व्रजः कोपाद्भग्नमानेऽतिविह्वलः । गोत्रलीलातपत्रेण त्रातो भद्रानुगृह्णता ।। ३-२-३३ ।।

sanskrit

O sober Vidura, King Indra, his honor having been insulted, poured water incessantly on Vṛndāvana, and thus the inhabitants of Vraja, the land of cows, were greatly distressed. But the compassionate Lord Kṛṣṇa saved them from danger with His pastime umbrella, the Govardhana Hill. ।। 3-2-33 ।।

english translation

हे भद्र विदुर, अपमानित होने से राजा इन्द्र ने वृन्दावन पर मूसलाधार वर्षा की। इस तरह गौवों की भूमि व्रज के निवासी बहुत ही व्याकुल हो उठे। किन्तु दयालु भगवान् कृष्ण ने अपने लीलाछत्र गोवर्धन पर्वत से उन्हें संकट से उबार लिया। ।। ३-२-३३ ।।

शरच्छशिकरैर्मृष्टं मानयन् रजनीमुखम् । गायन् कलपदं रेमे स्त्रीणां मण्डलमण्डनः ।। ३-२-३४ ।।

sanskrit

In the third season of the year, the Lord enjoyed as the central beauty of the assembly of women by attracting them with His pleasing songs in an autumn night brightened by moonshine. ।। 3-2-34 ।।

english translation

वर्ष की तृतीय ऋतु में भगवान् ने स्त्रियों की सभा के मध्यवर्ती सौन्दर्य के रूप में चाँदनी से उजली हुई शरद् की रात में अपने मनोहर गीतों से उन्हें आकृष्ट करके उनके साथ विहार किया। ।। ३-२-३४ ।।
