त्रसरेणुत्रिकं भुङ्क्ते यः कालः स त्रुटिः स्मृतः । शतभागस्तु वेधः स्यात्तैस्त्रिभिस्तु लवः स्मृतः ॥ ३-११-६ ॥
The time duration needed for the integration of three trasareṇus is called a truṭi, and one hundred truṭis make one vedha. Three vedhas make one lava. ॥ 3-11-6 ॥

तीन त्रसरेणुओं के समुच्चयन में जितना समय लगता है, वह त्रुटि कहलाता है और एक सौ त्रुटियों का एक वेध होता है। तीन वेध मिलकर एक लव बनाते हैं। ॥ ३-११-६ ॥

निमेषस्त्रिलवो ज्ञेय आम्नातस्ते त्रयः क्षणः । क्षणान् पञ्च विदुः काष्ठां लघु ता दश पञ्च च ॥ ३-११-७ ॥
The duration of time of three lavas is equal to one nimeṣa, the combination of three nimeṣas makes one kṣaṇa, five kṣaṇas combined together make one kāṣṭhā, and fifteen kāṣṭhās make one laghu. ॥ 3-11-7 ॥

तीन लवों की कालावधि एक निमेष के तुल्य है, तीन निमेष मिलकर एक क्षण बनाते हैं, पाँच क्षण मिलकर एक काष्ठा और पन्द्रह काष्ठा मिलकर एक लघु बनाते हैं। ॥ ३-११-७ ॥

लघूनि वै समाम्नाता दश पञ्च च नाडिका । ते द्वे मुहूर्तः प्रहरः षड्यामः सप्त वा नृणाम् ॥ ३-११-८ ॥
Fifteen laghus make one nāḍikā, which is also called a daṇḍa. Two daṇḍas make one muhūrta, and six or seven daṇḍas make one fourth of a day or night, according to human calculation. ॥ 3-11-8 ॥

पन्द्रह लघु मिलकर एक नाडिका बनाते हैं जिसे दण्ड भी कहा जाता है। दो दण्ड से एक मुहूर्त बनता है। और मानवीय गणना के अनुसार छ: या सात दण्ड मिलकर दिन या रात का चतुर्थांश बनाते हैं। ॥ ३-११-८ ॥

द्वादशार्धपलोन्मानं चतुर्भिश्चतुरङ्गुलैः । स्वर्णमाषैः कृतच्छिद्रं यावत्प्रस्थजलप्लुतम् ॥ ३-११-९ ॥
The measuring pot for one nāḍikā, or daṇḍa, can be prepared with a six-pala-weight [fourteen ounce] pot of copper, in which a hole is bored with a gold probe weighing four māṣa and measuring four fingers long. When the pot is placed on water, the time before the water overflows in the pot is called one daṇḍa. ॥ 3-11-9 ॥

एक नाडिका या दण्ड के मापने का पात्र छ: पल भार (१४ औंस) वाले ताम्र पात्र से तैयार किया जा सकता है, जिसमें चार माषा भार वाले तथा चार अंगुल लम्बे सोने की सलाई से एक छेद बनाया जाता है। जब इस पात्र को जल में रखा जाता है, तो इस पात्र को लबालब भरने में जो समय लगता है, वह एक दण्ड कहलाता है। ॥ ३-११-९ ॥

यामाश्चत्वारश्चत्वारो मर्त्यानामहनी उभे । पक्षः पञ्चदशाहानि शुक्लः कृष्णश्च मानद ॥ ३-११-१० ॥
It is calculated that there are four praharas, which are also called yāmas, in the day and four in the night of the human being. Similarly, fifteen days and nights are a fortnight, and there are two fortnights, white and black, in a month. ॥ 3-11-10 ॥

यह भी गणना की गई है कि मनुष्य के दिन में चार प्रहर या याम होते हैं और रात में भी चार प्रहर होते हैं। इसी तरह पन्द्रह दिन तथा पन्द्रह रातें पखवाड़ा कहलाती हैं और एक मास में दो पखवाड़े (पक्ष) उजाला (शुक्ल) तथा अँधियारा (कृष्ण) होते हैं। ॥ ३-११-१० ॥
