तपसा ह्येधमानेन विद्यया चात्मसंस्थया । विवृद्धविज्ञानबलो न्यपाद्वायुं सहाम्भसा ॥ ३-१०-६ ॥
Long penance and transcendental knowledge of self-realization had matured Brahmā in practical knowledge, and thus he drank the wind completely, along with the water. ॥ 3-10-6 ॥

दीर्घकालीन तपस्या तथा आत्म-साक्षात्कार के दिव्य ज्ञान ने ब्रह्मा को व्यावहारिक ज्ञान में परिपक्व बना दिया था, अत: उन्होंने वायु को पूर्णत: जल के साथ पी लिया। ॥ ३-१०-६ ॥

तद्विलोक्य वियद्व्यापि पुष्करं यदधिष्ठितम् । अनेन लोकान् प्राग्लीनान् कल्पितास्मीत्यचिन्तयत् ॥ ३-१०-७ ॥
Thereafter he saw that the lotus on which he was situated was spread throughout the universe, and he contemplated how to create all the planets, which were previously merged in that very same lotus. ॥ 3-10-7 ॥

तत्पश्चात् उन्होंने देखा कि वह कमल, जिस पर वे आसीन थे, ब्रह्माण्ड भर में फैला हुआ है और उन्होंने विचार किया कि उन समस्त लोकों को किस तरह उत्पन्न किया जाय जो इसके पूर्व उसी कमल में लीन थे। ॥ ३-१०-७ ॥

पद्मकोशं तदाऽऽविश्य भगवत्कर्मचोदितः । एकं व्यभाङ्क्षीदुरुधा त्रिधा भाव्यं द्विसप्तधा ॥ ३-१०-८ ॥
Thus engaged in the service of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Brahmā entered into the whorl of the lotus, and as it spread all over the universe he divided it into three divisions of worlds and later into fourteen divisions. ॥ 3-10-8 ॥

इस तरह पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् की सेवा में लगे ब्रह्माजी कमल के कोश में प्रविष्ट हुए और चूँकि वह सारे ब्रह्माण्ड में फैला हुआ था, अत: उन्होंने इसे ब्रह्माण्ड के तीन विभागों में और उसके बाद चौदह विभागों में बाँट दिया। ॥ ३-१०-८ ॥

एतावाञ्जीवलोकस्य संस्थाभेदः समाहृतः । धर्मस्य ह्यनिमित्तस्य विपाकः परमेष्ठ्यसौ ॥ ३-१०-९ ॥
Lord Brahmā is the most exalted personality in the universe because of his causeless devotional service unto the Lord in mature transcendental knowledge. He therefore created all the fourteen planetary divisions for inhabitation by the different types of living entities. ॥ 3-10-9 ॥

परिपक्व दिव्य ज्ञान में भगवान् की अहैतुकी भक्ति के कारण ब्रह्माजी ब्रह्माण्ड में सर्वोच्च पुरुष हैं। इसीलिए उन्होंने विभिन्न प्रकार के जीवों के निवास स्थान के लिए चौदह लोकों का सृजन किया। ॥ ३-१०-९ ॥

विदुर उवाच यदात्थ बहुरूपस्य हरेरद्भुतकर्मणः । कालाख्यं लक्षणं ब्रह्मन् यथा वर्णय नः प्रभो ॥ ३-१०-१० ॥
Vidura inquired from Maitreya: O my lord, O greatly learned sage, kindly describe eternal time, which is another form of the Supreme Lord, the wonderful actor. What are the symptoms of that eternal time? Please describe them to us in detail. ॥ 3-10-10 ॥

विदुर ने मैत्रेय से पूछा : हे प्रभु, हे परम विद्वान ऋषि, कृपा करके नित्यकाल का वर्णन करें जो अद्भुत अभिनेता परमेश्वर का दूसरा रूप है। नित्य काल के क्या लक्षण हैं? कृपा करके हमसे विस्तार से कहें। ॥ ३-१०-१० ॥
