नैतद्वस्तुतया पश्येद्दृश्यमानं विनश्यति । असक्तचित्तो विरमेदिहामुत्र चिकीर्षितात् ॥ ११-१८-२६ ॥
One should never see as ultimate reality those material things which obviously will perish. With consciousness free from material attachment, one should retire from all activities meant for material progress in this life and the next. ॥ 11-18-26 ॥

किसी को कभी भी उन भौतिक चीज़ों को अंतिम वास्तविकता के रूप में नहीं देखना चाहिए जो स्पष्ट रूप से नष्ट हो जाएंगी। भौतिक आसक्ति से मुक्त चेतना के साथ, व्यक्ति को इस जीवन और अगले जीवन में भौतिक प्रगति के लिए बनाई गई सभी गतिविधियों से निवृत्त हो जाना चाहिए। ॥ ११-१८-२६ ॥

यदेतदात्मनि जगन्मनोवाक्प्राणसंहतम् । सर्वं मायेति तर्केण स्वस्थस्त्यक्त्वा न तत्स्मरेत् ॥ ११-१८-२७ ॥
One should logically consider the universe, which is situated within the Lord, and one’s own material body, which is composed of mind, speech and life air, to be ultimately products of the Lord’s illusory energy. Thus situated in the self, one should give up one’s faith in these things and should never again make them the object of one’s meditation. ॥ 11-18-27 ॥

व्यक्ति को तर्कसंगत रूप से ब्रह्मांड पर विचार करना चाहिए, जो भगवान के भीतर स्थित है, और उसका अपना भौतिक शरीर, जो मन, वाणी और जीवन वायु से बना है, अंततः भगवान की मायावी ऊर्जा के उत्पाद हैं। इस प्रकार स्वयं में स्थित होकर व्यक्ति को इन चीजों पर अपना विश्वास छोड़ देना चाहिए और फिर कभी उन्हें अपने ध्यान का विषय नहीं बनाना चाहिए। ॥ ११-१८-२७ ॥

ज्ञाननिष्ठो विरक्तो वा मद्भक्तो वानपेक्षकः । सलिङ्गानाश्रमांस्त्यक्त्वा चरेदविधिगोचरः ॥ ११-१८-२८ ॥
A learned transcendentalist dedicated to the cultivation of knowledge and thus detached from external objects, or My devotee who is detached even from desire for liberation — both neglect those duties based on external rituals or paraphernalia. Thus their conduct is beyond the range of rules and regulations. ॥ 11-18-28 ॥

ज्ञान की खेती के लिए समर्पित एक विद्वान पारलौकिकवादी और इस प्रकार बाहरी वस्तुओं से अलग, या मेरा भक्त जो मुक्ति की इच्छा से भी अलग है - दोनों बाहरी अनुष्ठानों या सामग्री के आधार पर उन कर्तव्यों की उपेक्षा करते हैं। इस प्रकार उनका आचरण नियमों और विनियमों की सीमा से परे है। ॥ ११-१८-२८ ॥

बुधो बालकवत्क्रीडेत्कुशलो जडवच्चरेत् । वदेदुन्मत्तवद्विद्वान् गोचर्यां नैगमश्चरेत् ॥ ११-१८-२९ ॥
Although most wise, the paramahaṁsa should enjoy life like a child, oblivious to honor and dishonor; although most expert, he should behave like a stunted, incompetent person; although most learned, he should speak like an insane person; and although a scholar learned in Vedic regulations, he should behave in an unrestricted manner. ॥ 11-18-29 ॥

यद्यपि सबसे बुद्धिमान, परमहंस को सम्मान और अपमान से बेखबर, एक बच्चे की तरह जीवन का आनंद लेना चाहिए; यद्यपि सबसे अधिक विशेषज्ञ, उसे एक अविकसित, अक्षम व्यक्ति की तरह व्यवहार करना चाहिए; यद्यपि वह सबसे अधिक विद्वान हो, फिर भी उसे पागलों की भाँति बोलना चाहिए; और यद्यपि एक विद्वान वैदिक नियमों में सीखा हुआ है, फिर भी उसे अप्रतिबंधित तरीके से व्यवहार करना चाहिए। ॥ ११-१८-२९ ॥

वेदवादरतो न स्यान्न पाखण्डी न हैतुकः । शुष्कवादविवादे न कञ्चित्पक्षं समाश्रयेत् ॥ ११-१८-३० ॥
A devotee should never engage in the fruitive rituals mentioned in the karma-kāṇḍa section of the Vedas, nor should he become atheistic, acting or speaking in opposition to Vedic injunctions. Similarly, he should never speak like a mere logician or skeptic or take any side whatsoever in useless arguments. ॥ 11-18-30 ॥

एक भक्त को कभी भी वेदों के कर्म-काण्ड खंड में वर्णित सकाम अनुष्ठानों में संलग्न नहीं होना चाहिए, न ही उसे नास्तिक बनना चाहिए, वैदिक आदेशों के विरोध में कार्य करना या बोलना चाहिए। इसी प्रकार, उसे कभी भी केवल तर्कशास्त्री या संशयवादी की तरह नहीं बोलना चाहिए या बेकार के तर्क-वितर्क में किसी का भी पक्ष नहीं लेना चाहिए। ॥ ११-१८-३० ॥
