पितरौ नान्वविन्देतां कृष्णोदारार्भकेहितम् । गायन्त्यद्यापि कवयो यल्लोकशमलापहम् ।। १०-८-४७ ।।

sanskrit

Although Kṛṣṇa was so pleased with Vasudeva and Devakī that He descended as their son, they could not enjoy Kṛṣṇa’s magnanimous childhood pastimes, which are so great that simply chanting about them vanquishes the contamination of the material world. Nanda Mahārāja and Yaśodā, however, enjoyed these pastimes fully, and therefore their position is always better than that of Vasudeva and Devakī. ।। 10-8-47 ।।

english translation

यद्यपि कृष्ण वसुदेव तथा देवकी से इतने प्रसन्न थे कि वे उनके पुत्र रूप में अवतरित हुए किन्तु वे दोनों ही कृष्ण की उदार बाल-लीलाओं का आनन्द नहीं उठा पाये। ये लीलाएँ इतनी महान् हैं कि इनका उच्चार करने मात्र से संसार का कल्मष दूर हो जाता है। किन्तु नन्द महाराज तथा यशोदा ने इन लीलाओं का पूर्ण आनन्द प्राप्त किया अतएव उनकी स्थिति वसुदेव तथा देवकी से सदैव श्रेष्ठतर है। ।। १०-८-४७ ।।
