पुरानेन व्रजपते साधवो दस्युपीडिताः । अराजके रक्ष्यमाणा जिग्युर्दस्यून् समेधिताः ॥ १०-८-१७ ॥
O Nanda Mahārāja, as recorded in history, when there was an irregular, incapable government, Indra having been dethroned, and people were being harassed and disturbed by thieves, this child appeared in order to protect the people and enable them to flourish, and He curbed the rogues and thieves. ॥ 10-8-17 ॥

हे नन्द महाराज, जैसा कि इतिहास बतलाता है जब अनियमित अशक्त शासन था और इन्द्र को अपदस्थ कर दिया गया था और लोग चोरों द्वारा सताये जा रहे थे उस समय लोगों की रक्षा करने तथा उनकी समृद्धि के लिए यह बालक प्रकट हुआ और इसने चोर-उचक्कों का दमन कर दिया। ॥ १०-८-१७ ॥
