रुदन्तं सुतमादाय यशोदा ग्रहशङ्किता । कृतस्वस्त्ययनं विप्रैः सूक्तैः स्तनमपाययत् ॥ १०-७-११ ॥
Thinking that some bad planet had attacked Kṛṣṇa, mother Yaśodā picked up the crying child and allowed Him to suck her breast. Then she called for experienced brāhmaṇas to chant Vedic hymns and perform an auspicious ritualistic ceremony. ॥ 10-7-11 ॥

यह सोच कर कि कृष्ण पर किसी अशुभ ग्रह का आक्रमण हुआ है, माता यशोदा ने रोते बालक को उठा लिया और उसे अपना स्तन-पान कराया। तब उन्होंने वैदिक स्तुतियों का उच्चारण करने के लिए तथा शुभ अनुष्ठान सम्पन्न करने के लिए अनुभवी ब्राह्मणों को बुला भेजा। ॥ १०-७-११ ॥

पूर्ववत्स्थापितं गोपैर्बलिभिः सपरिच्छदम् । विप्रा हुत्वार्चयाञ्चक्रुर्दध्यक्षतकुशाम्बुभिः ॥ १०-७-१२ ॥
After the strong, stout cowherd men assembled the pots and paraphernalia on the handcart and set it up as before, the brāhmaṇas performed a ritualistic ceremony with a fire sacrifice to appease the bad planet, and then, with rice grains, kuśa, water and curd, they worshiped the Supreme Lord. ॥ 10-7-12 ॥

जब बलिष्ठ गठीले ग्वालों ने बर्तन-भांडे तथा अन्य सामग्री को छकड़े के ऊपर पहले की भाँति व्यवस्थित कर दिया, तो ब्राह्मणों ने बुरे ग्रह को शान्त करने के लिए अग्नि-यज्ञ का अनुष्ठान किया और तब चावल, कुश, जल तथा दही से भगवान् की पूजा की। ॥ १०-७-१२ ॥

येऽसूयानृतदम्भेर्ष्याहिंसामानविवर्जिताः । न तेषां सत्यशीलानामाशिषो विफलाः कृताः ॥ १०-७-१३ ॥
When brāhmaṇas are free from envy, untruthfulness, unnecessary pride, grudges, disturbance by the opulence of others, and false prestige, their blessings never go in vain. ॥ 10-7-13 ॥
english translation
जब ब्राह्मणजन ईर्ष्या, झूठ, मिथ्या अहंकार, द्वेष, अन्यों के वैभव को देखकर मचलने तथा मिथ्या प्रतिष्ठा से मुक्त होते हैं, तो उनके आशीर्वाद व्यर्थ नहीं जाते। ॥ १०-७-१३ ॥

इति बालकमादाय सामर्ग्यजुरुपाकृतैः । जलैः पवित्रौषधिभिरभिषिच्य द्विजोत्तमैः ॥ १०-७-१४ ॥
Considering this, Nanda Mahārāja soberly took Kṛṣṇa on his lap and invited such truthful brāhmaṇas to perform a ritualistic ceremony according to the holy hymns of the Sāma Veda, Ṛg Veda and Yajur Veda. ॥ 10-7-14 ॥

यह सोचकर नन्द महाराज ने गम्भीर होकर कृष्ण को अपनी गोद में ले लिया और इन सत्यनिष्ठ ब्राह्मणों को साम, ऋग् तथा यजुर्वेद के पवित्र स्तोत्रों के अनुसार अनुष्ठान सम्पन्न करने के लिए आमंत्रित किया। ॥ १०-७-१४ ॥

वाचयित्वा स्वस्त्ययनं नन्दगोपः समाहितः । हुत्वा चाग्निं द्विजातिभ्यः प्रादादन्नं महागुणम् ॥ १०-७-१५ ॥
Then, while the hymns were being chanted, he bathed the child with water mixed with pure herbs, and after performing a fire ceremony, he sumptuously fed all the brāhmaṇas with first-class grains and other food. ॥ 10-7-15 ॥

जब मंत्रोच्चार हो रहा था, तो नन्द ने बच्चे को शुद्ध जड़ी-बूटियों से मिश्रित जल से स्नान कराया और अग्नि-यज्ञ करने के बाद सभी ब्राह्मणों को उत्तम अन्न तथा अन्य प्रकार के पदार्थों का स्वादिष्ट भोजन कराया। ॥ १०-७-१५ ॥
