Srimad Bhagavatam
वास्तोष्पतीनां च गृहैर्वलभीभिश्च निर्मितम् । चातुर्वर्ण्यजनाकीर्णं यदुदेवगृहोल्लसत् ॥ १०-५०-५४ ॥
Beside the houses stood treasury buildings, warehouses, and stables for fine horses, all built of silver and brass. Each residence had a watchtower, and also a temple for its household deity. Filled with citizens of all four social orders, the city was especially beautified by the palaces of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the Lord of the Yadus. ॥ 10-50-54 ॥
english translation
घरों के पास ही कोषागार, भंडार तथा आकर्षक घोड़ों के अस्तबल थे, जो चाँदी तथा पीतल के बने हुए थे। प्रत्येक आवास में एक चौकसी बुर्जी थी और घरेलू अर्चाविग्रह के लिए मन्दिर था। यह नगर चारों वर्णों के लोगों से पूरित था और यदुओं के स्वामी श्रीकृष्ण के महलों के कारण विशेष रूप से अलंकृत था। ॥ १०-५०-५४ ॥
