Srimad Bhagavatam
तच्छेषेणोपजीवन्ति त्रिवर्गफलहेतवे । पुंसां पुरुषकाराणां पर्जन्यः फलभावनः ॥ १०-२४-१० ॥
By accepting the remnants of sacrifices performed to Indra, people sustain their lives and accomplish the threefold aims of religiosity, economic development and sense gratification. Thus Lord Indra is the agent responsible for the fruitive success of industrious people. ॥ 10-24-10 ॥
english translation
इन्द्र के लिए सम्पन्न यज्ञों से बचे जूठन को ग्रहण करके लोग अपना जीवन-पालन करते हैं तथा धर्म, अर्थ और काम रूपी तीन लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करते हैं। इस प्रकार भगवान् इन्द्र उद्यमी पुरुषों की सकाम सफलता के लिए उत्तरदायी अभिकर्ता हैं। ॥ १०-२४-१० ॥
