Srimad Bhagavatam
अवतीर्य यदोर्वंशे भगवान् भूतभावनः । कृतवान् यानि विश्वात्मा तानि नो वद विस्तरात् ॥ १०-१-३ ॥
The Supersoul, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the cause of the cosmic manifestation, appeared in the dynasty of Yadu. Please tell me elaborately about His glorious activities and character, from the beginning to the end of His life. ॥ 10-1-3 ॥

परमात्मा अर्थात् पूर्ण पुरुषोत्तम भगवान् कृष्ण, जो विराट जगत के कारण हैं, यदुवंश में प्रकट हुए। आप कृपा करके मुझे उनके यशस्वी कार्यकलापों तथा उनके चरित्र का आदि से लेकर अन्त तक वर्णन करें। ॥ १०-१-३ ॥
