    भगवन् किं परित्यक्ता त्वयाहं ब्रह्मणः सुत । यस्माद्राजभटा मां हि नयन्ते त्वत्सकाशतः ॥ १-५४-८bhagavan kiM parityaktA tvayAhaM brahmaNaH suta । yasmAdrAjabhaTA mAM hi nayante tvatsakAzataH ॥ 1-54-8- 'Oh ! Brahma's son, Oh ! Venerable one you have abandoned me? For what reason the servants of the king are taking me away from you?' So Shabala urged Vashishta. ॥ 1-54-8॥

    निर्धूय तां तदा भृत्यान् शतशः शत्रुसूदन । जगामानिलवेगेन पादमूलं महात्मनः ॥ १-५४-६nirdhUya tAM tadA bhRtyAn zatazaH zatrusUdana । jagAmAnilavegena pAdamUlaM mahAtmanaH ॥ 1-54-6- on utterly shoving off hundreds of attendants of the king who were roping her. Oh ! enemy-subjugator ( Rama ) and then she straight went to the base of the feet of the great-souled Vashishta. ॥ 1-54-6॥

    इति संचिन्तयित्वा तु निःश्वस्य च पुनः पुनः । जगाम वेगेन तदा वसिष्ठं परमौजसम् ॥ १-५४-५iti saMcintayitvA tu niHzvasya ca punaH punaH । jagAma vegena tadA vasiSThaM paramaujasam ॥ 1-54-5On thinking thus and surprising repeatedly, she that Sacred Cow hastily rushed with the speed and went to that highly illustrious Vashishta. ॥ 1-54-5॥

    किं मयापकृतं तस्य महर्षेर्भावितात्मनः । यन्मामनागसं भक्तामिष्टां त्यजति धार्मिकः ॥ १-५४-४kiM mayApakRtaM tasya maharSerbhAvitAtmanaH । yanmAmanAgasaM bhaktAmiSTAM tyajati dhArmikaH ॥ 1-54-4- What harm have I done to the pious maharshi, a compassionate soul? Why does he the auspicious one, forsake me, despite my innocence and devotion?' ॥ 1-54-4॥

Have I been abandoned by the magnanimous Vasishta? - ॥ 1-54-3॥

    नीयमाना तु शबला राम राज्ञा महात्मना । दुःखिता चिन्तयामास रुदंती शोककर्षिता ॥ १-५४-२nIyamAnA tu zabalA rAma rAjJA mahAtmanA । duHkhitA cintayAmAsa rudaMtI zokakarSitA ॥ 1-54-2- Oh ! Rama when she was being taken away by the powerful king the distressed Shabala thus reflected choked with sorrow' ॥ 1-54-2॥

    कामधेनुं वसिष्ठोऽपि यदा न त्यजते मुनिः । तदास्य शबलां राम विश्वामित्रोऽन्वकर्षत ॥ १-५४-१kAmadhenuM vasiSTho'pi yadA na tyajate muniH । tadAsya zabalAM rAma vizvAmitro'nvakarSata ॥ 1-54-1'Oh ! Rama when sage Vashishtha did not consent to part with the wish-fulfilling cow, Vishvaamitra dragged Shabala by force'. ( Sage Shataananda continued the narration of the legend of Vishvamitra ). ॥ 1-54-1॥

    अतो मूलाः क्रियाः सर्वा मम राजन्न संशयः । बहूना किं प्रलापेन न दास्ये कामदोहिनीम् ॥ १-५३-२५ato mUlAH kriyAH sarvA mama rAjanna saMzayaH । bahUnA kiM pralApena na dAsye kAmadohinIm ॥ 1-53-25- Oh ! King this (cow) is undoubtedly the source of all my actions. Why these useless words? I will never give this wishfulfilling cow'. ( So said Sage Vashishta to King Vishvamitra ) ॥ 1-53-25॥

    दर्शश्च पौर्णमासश्च यज्ञाश्चैवाप्तदक्षिणाः । एतदेव हि मे राजन् विविधाश्च क्रियास्तथा ॥ १-५३-२४darzazca paurNamAsazca yajJAzcaivAptadakSiNAH । etadeva hi me rAjan vividhAzca kriyAstathA ॥ 1-53-24- This alone is my darsha-puurnamaasa rituals, and like that this alone is all my Vedic-rituals with worthwhile donations and oh ! king, this essentially is of service in diverse activities of mine. - ॥ 1-53-24॥
