    निर्धनो बहुपुत्रोऽस्मि राजपुत्र महायशः । उञ्छवृत्तिर्वने नित्यं प्रत्यवेक्षस्व मामिति ॥ २-३२-३५nirdhano bahuputro'smi rAjaputra mahAyazaH । uJchavRttirvane nityaM pratyavekSasva mAmiti ॥ 2-32-35- 'Oh ! illustrious prince I am a destitute and have many children. I am living in the forest by collecting leftover grains. Look at me.' ॥ 2-32-35॥

    आपञ्चमायाः कक्ष्यायाः नैनं कश्चिदवारयत् । स राजपुत्रमासाद्य त्रिजटो वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥ २-३२-३४ApaJcamAyAH kakSyAyAH nainaM kazcidavArayat । sa rAjaputramAsAdya trijaTo vAkyamabravIt ॥ 2-32-34- no one stopped him until he reached the fifth courtyard. Tirjata, looked like Bhrigu and Angiraa in brilliance, in the crowd . - ॥ 2-32-33॥

    रामं दर्शय धर्मज्ञं यदि किञ्चिदवाप्स्यसि । स भार्यावचनं श्रुत्वा शाटीमाच्छाद्य दुश्छदाम् ॥ २-३२-३२rAmaM darzaya dharmajJaM yadi kiJcidavApsyasi । sa bhAryAvacanaM zrutvA zATImAcchAdya duzchadAm ॥ 2-32-32- Go and see the righteous Rama. You may obtain something.' At the words of his wife, having wrapped himself with a torn upper garment - ॥ 2-32-32॥

    अब्रवीद्बाह्मणं वाक्यं दारिद्र्येणाभिपीडिता । अपास्य फालं कुद्दालं कुरुष्व वचनं मम ॥ २-३२-३१abravIdbAhmaNaM vAkyaM dAridryeNAbhipIDitA । apAsya phAlaM kuddAlaM kuruSva vacanaM mama ॥ 2-32-31- and highly distressed due to poverty, said to the aged brahmin 'Listen to me throw away this iron spade . -॥ 2-32-31॥

    क्षतवृत्तिर्वने नित्यं फालकुद्दाललाङ्गली । तं वृद्धं तरुणी भार्या बालानादाय दारकान् ॥ २-३२-३०kSatavRttirvane nityaM phAlakuddAlalAGgalI । taM vRddhaM taruNI bhAryA bAlAnAdAya dArakAn ॥ 2-32-30- earning his livelihood in the forest by digging the earth with an iron spade and a plough. His ( aged brahmin Trijata ) young wife, keeping her young sons before her - ॥ 2-32-30॥

    द्विजेभ्यो बालवृद्धेभ्यः कृपणेभ्योऽह्यदापयत् । तत्रासीत्पिङ्गलो गार्ग्यस्त्रिजटो नाम वै द्विजः॥ २-३२-२९dvijebhyo bAlavRddhebhyaH kRpaNebhyo'hyadApayat । tatrAsItpiGgalo gArgyastrijaTo nAma vai dvijaH॥ 2-32-29- distributed among indigent brahmins, and young and old alike. A brahmin by name, Trijata, a descendant of sage Garga and of reddishbrown colour used to live in that region . - ॥ 2-32-29॥

    स राशिस्सुमहांस्तत्र दर्शनीयो ह्यदृश्यत । ततस्सपुरुषव्याघ्र स्तद्धनं सहलक्ष्मणः ॥ २-३२-२८sa rAzissumahAMstatra darzanIyo hyadRzyata । tatassapuruSavyAghra staddhanaM sahalakSmaNaH ॥ 2-32-28- they were pleased to see the great heap of wealth. Rama, best among men, with the help of Lakshmana, got the entire wealth . - ॥ 2-32-28॥

    उवाचेदं धनाध्यक्षं धनमानीयतामिति । ततोऽस्य धनमाजह्रुस्सर्वमेवोपजीविनः ॥ २-३२-२७ uvAcedaM dhanAdhyakSaM dhanamAnIyatAmiti । tato'sya dhanamAjahrussarvamevopajIvinaH ॥ 2-32-27 - ( Rama ) ordered the treasury officer to bring the entire treasure. When all the dependents fetched the entire wealth of Rama - ॥ 2-32-27॥

    अशून्यं कार्यमेकैकं यावदागमनं मम । इत्युक्त्वा दुःखितं सर्वं जनं तमुपजीविनम् ॥ २-३२-२६azUnyaM kAryamekaikaM yAvadAgamanaM mama । ityuktvA duHkhitaM sarvaM janaM tamupajIvinam ॥ 2-32-26- guard each of them and ensure that they are not left unattended till I come back. Having spoken thus to all dependents who were overcome with grief - ॥ 2-32-26॥
