- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/87/5[आ] केनासि दूतः परहितॊ ऽदय राजन; युवा सरग्वी दर्शनीयः सुवर्चाः कुत आगतः कतरस्यां दिशि तवम; उताहॊ सवित पार्थिवं सथानम अस्ति ॥ १-८७-५ ॥[A] kenAsi dUtaH parahitò 'daya rAjana; yuvA saragvI darzanIyaH suvarcAH kuta AgataH katarasyAM dizi tavama; utAhò savita pArthivaM sathAnama asti ॥ 1-87-5 ॥'Ashtaka spoke, 'O king, you appear youthful, adorned with celestial ornaments, and radiate great splendor. From where do you come and where do you go? Whose messenger are you? Are you descending into the earth?'' ॥ 1-87-5 ॥
- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/87/2[य] अनिकेतॊ गृहस्थेषु कामवृत्तेषु संयतः गराम एव वसन भिक्षुस तयॊः पूर्वतरं गतः ॥ १-८७-२ ॥[ya] aniketò gRhastheSu kAmavRtteSu saMyataH garAma eva vasana bhikSusa tayòH pUrvataraM gataH ॥ 1-87-2 ॥'Yayati answered, 'The wise, with the help of the Vedas and Knowledge, having ascertained the visible universe to be illusory, instantly realize the Supreme Spirit as the sole existent independent essence. While they devote themselves to Yoga meditation takes time to acquire the same knowledge, for it is by practice alone that these latter divest themselves of the consciousness of quality. Hence the wise attain to salvation first.'' ॥ 1-87-2 ॥
- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/86/17आस्येन तु यदाहारं गॊवन मृगयते मुनिः अथास्य लॊकः पूर्वॊ यः सॊ ऽमृतत्वाय कल्पते ॥ १-८६-१७ ॥Asyena tu yadAhAraM gòvana mRgayate muniH athAsya lòkaH pUrvò yaH sò 'mRtatvAya kalpate ॥ 1-86-17 ॥'When a Muni consumes food in a natural and unpremeditated manner, similar to deer or other creatures, without anticipation or particular enjoyment (akin to an infant effortlessly feeding in its mother's embrace), he merges with the cosmos like the omnipresent spirit, thereby achieving liberation.' ॥ 1-86-17 ॥

- siva.sh/mahabharat/adi-parva/85/7[य] ऊर्ध्वं देहात कर्मणॊ जृम्भमाणाद; वयक्तं पृथिव्याम अनुसंचरन्ति इमं भौमं नरकं ते पतन्ति; नावेक्षन्ते वर्षपूगान अनेकान ॥ १-८५-७ ॥[ya] UrdhvaM dehAta karmaNò jRmbhamANAda; vayaktaM pRthivyAma anusaMcaranti imaM bhaumaM narakaM te patanti; nAvekSante varSapUgAna anekAna ॥ 1-85-7 ॥'Yayati explained, "Upon the body's dissolution, based on his deeds, a man reenters his mother's womb, existing there first as an undefined form. Shortly thereafter, he takes on a distinct shape, reemerges into the world, and treads upon the earth. This cycle represents the earthly hell (Bhauma) into which he falls, for he does not perceive the end of his existence nor acts towards his liberation."' ॥ 1-85-7 ॥

- siva.sh/manusmriti/5/79अन्तर्दशाहे स्यातां चेत् पुनर्मरणजन्मनी । तावत् स्यादशुचिर्विप्रो यावत् तत् स्यादनिर्दशम् ॥ ७९ ॥antardazAhe syAtAM cet punarmaraNajanmanI । tAvat syAdazucirvipro yAvat tat syAdanirdazam ॥ 79 ॥If within the ten days (of impurity) another birth or death happens, a Brahmana shall remain impure only until the (first) period of ten days has expired.
