Thus none of them approached him. However, because Lord Hari is the Supersoul, Puruṣottama, the Personality of Godhead, He appeared before Gajendra. ॥ 8-3-30 ॥

I have already been defeated, for my weapon and arm have been cut to pieces. You have already overwhelmed me, but nonetheless, with a desire to kill you, I am trying my best to fight. I am not at all morose, even under such adverse conditions. Therefore you should give up your moroseness and continue fighting. ॥ 6-12-16 ॥

    नारायणस्त्वं न हि सर्वदेहिनामात्मास्यधीशाखिललोकसाक्षी । नारायणोऽङ्गं नरभूजलायनात् तच्चापि सत्यं न तवैव माया ॥ १०-१४-१४ ॥nArAyaNastvaM na hi sarvadehinAmAtmAsyadhIzAkhilalokasAkSI । nArAyaNo'GgaM narabhUjalAyanAt taccApi satyaM na tavaiva mAyA ॥ 10-14-14 ॥Are You not the original Nārāyaṇa, O supreme controller, since You are the Soul of every embodied being and the eternal witness of all created realms? Indeed, Lord Nārāyaṇa is Your expansion, and He is called Nārāyaṇa because He is the generating source of the primeval water of the universe. He is real, not a product of Your illusory Māyā. ॥ 10-14-14 ॥

    सत्त्वं रजस्तम इति प्रकृतेर्नात्मनो गुणाः । तत्र साक्षिणमात्मानं यो वेद न स बध्यते ॥ ६-१२-१५ ॥sattvaM rajastama iti prakRternAtmano guNAH । tatra sAkSiNamAtmAnaM yo veda na sa badhyate ॥ 6-12-15 ॥One who knows that the three qualities — goodness, passion and ignorance — are not qualities of the soul but qualities of material nature, and who knows that the pure soul is simply an observer of the actions and reactions of these qualities, should be understood to be a liberated person. He is not bound by these qualities. ॥ 6-12-15 ॥

    न विद्यते यस्य च जन्म कर्म वा न नामरूपे गुणदोष एव वा । तथापि लोकाप्ययसम्भवाय यः स्वमायया तान्यनुकालमृच्छति ॥ ८-३-८ ॥na vidyate yasya ca janma karma vA na nAmarUpe guNadoSa eva vA । tathApi lokApyayasambhavAya yaH svamAyayA tAnyanukAlamRcchati ॥ 8-3-8 ॥The Supreme Personality of Godhead has no material birth, activities, name, form, qualities or faults. To fulfill the purpose for which this material world is created and destroyed, He comes in the form of a human being like Lord Rāma or Lord Kṛṣṇa by His original internal potency. ॥ 8-2-8 ॥
