ह्रियमाणा तु वैदेही कञ्चिन्नाथमपश्यती । ददर्श गिरिशृङ्गस्थान्पञ्च वानरपुङ्गवान् ॥ ३-५४-१
While Sita was being kidnapped, she saw no one to protect her. Only five great monkeys stood on the top of a mountain. ॥ 3-54-1॥

hriyamANA tu vaidehI kaJcinnAthamapazyatI । dadarza girizRGgasthAnpaJca vAnarapuGgavAn ॥ 3-54-1
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतेषां मध्ये विशालाक्षी कौशेयं कनकप्रभम् । उत्तरीयं वरारोहा शुभान्याभरणानि च ॥ ३-५४-२
Large-eyed, bright and beautiful Sita, inwrapping her auspicious ornaments in the upper-fringe of her sari, in their midst . - ॥ 3-54-2॥

teSAM madhye vizAlAkSI kauzeyaM kanakaprabham । uttarIyaM varArohA zubhAnyAbharaNAni ca ॥ 3-54-2
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमुमोच यदि रामाय शंसेयुरिति मैथिली । वस्त्रमुत्सृज्य तन्मध्ये निक्षिप्तं सहभूषणम् ॥ ३-५४-३
- dropped it with a hope they may report this to Rama. When she dropped down that garment along with ornaments in their midst - ॥ 3-54-3॥

mumoca yadi rAmAya zaMseyuriti maithilI । vastramutsRjya tanmadhye nikSiptaM sahabhUSaNam ॥ 3-54-3
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसम्भ्रमात्तु दशग्रीवस्तत्कर्म न स बुद्धवान् । पिङ्गाक्षास्तां विशालाक्षीं नेत्रैरनिमिषैरिव ॥ ३-५४-४
- in his excitement Ravana failed to notice that action of Sita. Those tawney eyed ( monkeys ) kept their eyes without blinking it at the large-eyed one ( Sita ) ॥ 3-54-4॥

sambhramAttu dazagrIvastatkarma na sa buddhavAn । piGgAkSAstAM vizAlAkSIM netrairanimiSairiva ॥ 3-54-4
hk transliteration by Sanscriptविक्रोशन्तीं तथा सीतां ददृशुर्वानरर्षभाः । स च पम्पामतिक्रम्य लङ्कामभिमुखः पुरीम् ॥ ३-५४-५
Those best among the monkeys gazed at the Sita who was lamenting. He ( Ravana ) crossed the lake Pampa and flew towards the city of Lanka. ॥ 3-54-5॥

vikrozantIM tathA sItAM dadRzurvAnararSabhAH । sa ca pampAmatikramya laGkAmabhimukhaH purIm ॥ 3-54-5
