प्रविष्टौ दण्डकारण्यं शरचापासिधारिणौ । कथं तापसयोर्वां च वासः प्रमदया सह ॥ ३-२-११
- you both holding bows, arrows and swords have entered into the Dandaka forest. How is it that you both, dressed in the robes of ascetics, live with a woman? ॥ 3-2-11॥
english translation
praviSTau daNDakAraNyaM zaracApAsidhAriNau । kathaM tApasayorvAM ca vAsaH pramadayA saha ॥ 3-2-11
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअधर्मचारिणौ पापौ कौ युवां मुनिदूषकौ । अहं वनमिदं दुर्गं विराधो नाम राक्षसः ॥ ३-२-१२
Leading an unrighteous and sinful life, who are you who have brought disgrace to the ascetic discipline ? I am a demon named Viradha. In this dense forest . - ॥ 3-2-12॥
english translation
adharmacAriNau pApau kau yuvAM munidUSakau । ahaM vanamidaM durgaM virAdho nAma rAkSasaH ॥ 3-2-12
hk transliteration by Sanscriptचरामि सायुधो नित्यमृषिमांसानि भक्षयन् । इयं नारी वरारोहा मम भार्या भविष्यति ॥ ३-२-१३
- I wander with my weapons, always eating the flesh of the sages. This beautiful woman (with fine hips) shall be my wife. ॥ 3-2-13॥
english translation
carAmi sAyudho nityamRSimAMsAni bhakSayan । iyaM nArI varArohA mama bhAryA bhaviSyati ॥ 3-2-13
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयुवयोः पापयोश्चाहं पास्यामि रुधिरं मृधे । तस्यैवं ब्रुवतो दुष्टं विराधस्य दुरात्मनः ॥ ३-२-१४
You sinners I shall drink the blood of both of you in the fight.' In that way while that wicked Viradha spoke - ॥ 3-2-14॥

yuvayoH pApayozcAhaM pAsyAmi rudhiraM mRdhe । tasyaivaM bruvato duSTaM virAdhasya durAtmanaH ॥ 3-2-14
hk transliteration by Sanscriptश्रुत्वा सगर्वितं वाक्यं सम्भ्रान्ता जनकात्मजा । सीता प्रवेपतोद्वेगात् प्रावाते कदली यथा ॥ ३-२-१५
- having heard the boastful words, daughter of Janaka ( Sita ) was bewildered out of fear. Sita shaken out of anxiety, like a plantain tree in a strong wind. ॥ 3-2-15॥

zrutvA sagarvitaM vAkyaM sambhrAntA janakAtmajA । sItA pravepatodvegAt prAvAte kadalI yathA ॥ 3-2-15
