'Vaisampayana said: "Having thus consulted among themselves and assigned to each the duties they would perform, the Pandavas turned to Dhaumya for guidance. And Dhaumya offered them his counsel in these words:"' ।। 4-4-6 ।।
'Come, O princes, I shall tell you about the royal residence, how one who enters the royal family and serves there does not perish/come to harm.' ।। 4-4-7 ।।
'O Kauravas, whether with honour or in disguise, you must spend this year in the royal household without being discovered by those who know you.' ।। 4-4-8 ।।
दिष्ट दवारॊ लभेद दवारं न च राजसु विश्वसेत तद एवासनम अन्विच्छेद यत्र नाभिषजेत परः ।। ४-४-९ ।।
'One should appear before the king only after obtaining permission at the gate. It is unwise to become involved in royal secrets, nor should one desire a seat that others may covet.' ।। 4-4-9 ।।
नास्य यानं न पर्यङ्कं न पीठं न जगं रथम आरॊहेत संमतॊ ऽसमीति स राजवसतिं वसेत ।। ४-४-१० ।।
'He alone is fit to reside in a royal household who, not presuming himself to be a favourite, refrains from using the king’s chariot, coach, seat, vehicle, or elephant.' ।। 4-4-10 ।।
