अहम अप्य अत्र सैरन्ध्र्या सतुतः सारथ्य कर्मणि न हि शक्ष्याम्य अनिर्जित्य गाः परयातुं पुरं परति ।। ४-३६-२२ ।।
'As for myself, I cannot go back to the city empty-handed, not after the Sairindhri praised me so highly for my skill in driving. It is because of those words of hers—and yours as well—that I have come here.' ।। 4-36-22 ।।
'Uttara said: "Let the Kurus plunder the Matsyas of all their wealth. Let men and women, O Brihannala, laugh at me in scorn. Let the kine be lost, let the city be laid bare, let me face disgrace before my father himself—still, I say, there is no need for battle!"' ।। 4-36-24 ।।
[वै] इत्य उक्त्वा पराद्रवद भीतॊ रथात परस्कन्द्य कुण्डली तयक्त्वा मानं स मन्तात्मा विसृज्य स शरं धनुः ।। ४-३६-२५ ।।
'Vaiśampāyana continued: Saying this, the frightened prince, adorned with earrings, leapt down from his chariot and fled—casting aside his bow and arrows, and abandoning both honor and pride.' ।। 4-36-25 ।।
